    1. Some time ago I bought a photo of Hitler greeting RADwJ female leaders at the Reichsparteitage in Nürnberg 1937, but this week I received a picture of the same happening from a different angle... An interesting view at what was behind the camera. From lef to right: Wilhelm Frick, Hitler's SA adjutant Wilhelm Brückner and Rudolf Hess.
    2. Two German racing car drivers, Hermann Lang and Messerschmitt (?) wearing the badge
    3. Two photos of Austrian soldiers in trenches. The first was sent as a postcard and bears the postal stamp Krems a.d. Donau 15.XI.13.
    4. Thank you very much Eric and Markgraf for your very informative remarks, and the link to the Austro-Hungarian Army site!
    5. Can any one give more information about this portrait, please? First I thought that he is wearing the Serbian Order of the White Eagle, but on second thoughts, it is not...
    6. Thanks for sharing your observations guys! @Markgraf, can you please give the number of the Hungarian photo (this gan be found under the left corner, after clicking on the picture). @tifes, below the tekst on the reverse of this photo
    7. And some more. I have many more decorated Austrians, but these are all in post-card size.
    8. All right, here's some of mine. Perhaps some kind fellow will explain their uniforms and decorations, because I don't know much about Austrian stuff.
    9. Considering the numbers of soldiers wounded during WW1....
    10. I would call it a reconvalescent batterey of a replenishment Battn of a Regt. of Garrison artillery
    11. Thanks Dave, I have numbered them, so it is easier to make references. Yes Paul, I have the trilogy on German Admirals, but it is very hard to tell who is who in this photo. The books do not reveal the orders and decorations of the individual admirals, which could be helpful to identify these men. Perhaps the photo, or a similar photo was published in a book or newspaper, with the names of the admirals.
    12. A large size photo of the inauguration of the Naval Monument al Laboe near Kiel, with about a dozen of active and retired admirals present. Interesting to see that retired admirals wear the imperial insignia, and the active/reserve admirals the newly intruduced insignia of the Third Reich. Who are these admirals that we see?
    13. Hard to say... I have seen many of these on the flea markets, for sale for pennies, as these leather caps were used by motor cyclists and moped drivers (in combination with a tough leather over coat) until the late 1960's. My gandfather had one quite similar - before crash helmets became the custom in the 60s - and he sure was not a pilot.
    14. Recently I added this very rare and interesting press photo to my collection, showing men of the Donauflottille [Danube Flottilla]. The tally was worn between October 1938 and September 1939 by men dressed as sailors, assigned to the Danube Flottilla. This flottilla served earlier as a part of the Austrian K.u.K. Kriegsmarine [imperial and Royal Navy] with small craft on the river. After 1919 the flottilla was disbanded, as ordered by the vicors of the Great War. In November 1938, after the amalgamation of Austria and Germany to the greater Germany, the flottilla was re-established as an unit of the Kriesmarine and commanded by a Kapitän zur See, the HQ was seated in Linz. The unit was subordinate to the Stationskommando Ostsee [station Commander Baltic]. This cap tally was replaced by the general tally "Kriegsmarine" in September 1939.
    15. I don't think that the printers made mistakes, because they received the full tekst and details from the descendants.
    16. Perhaps for some one who has a detailed roll of where abouts, to link in with the tekst on the reverse of the photo. Nice to see that the cuff band was also worn on the field grey tunic - thanks for posting!
