What are your opinions on this 105mm round or
Kev in Deva replied to Brian Wolfe's topic in Firearms & Ordnance
Any ordnance in BLUE is a practice / Drill round. Could cause damage if it fell off the desk onto somebody's foot though. :P -
Hallo Gents, just to bump this topic, I wish to ask are the requirements for the grade of TR Wound badge posted on the forum anywhere. I am asking because recently online I saw a picture of a Re-enactor at the CAF Airshow, who amongst the Sniper badge, Gold Tank destruction badge, Knights Cross, Army Para badge etc..etc.. is sporting a Gold Wound badge. He also has a very strange looking Campaign Shield. Kevin in Deva.

I believe the third one of shape with red cross is for attending a concourse - medical convention on Tuberculosis, held in Paris, on the 2-7th October 1905. Great looking items though Kevin in Deva

The Irish did have an Armoured element in the Congo, they used Ford Mk VI, these were deployed following the Niemba Masacre, these were sent to the Irish 34th Bn, in January 1961 and 35th Bn in June 1961 aboard a US Globemaster. The group comprised 8 Ford Mk VI armoured cars organised into four sections each comprising of two Ford Mk VIs and two Landrovers. Irish Fords served alongside Indian Army Daimler armoured cars and Swedish Army m / 42 SKPF Armoured Cars. Kevin in Deva. -

Kev in Deva replied to TheKnight's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Perhaps those attempting to use the English words in their posts, would do well to look up there meaning before using them. I on the other hand, know what it means, especially when used in the context of: "ignorant advices." Kevin in Deva. :D -

Being a relative new member on here,'Von Krauthausen' you would do a lot better than refer to members posts as "ignorant". Many members here are stating their honest opinions about the piece in question, if, you have any pictures, data of other pieces, that are similar in style, then do please feel free to add them to the discussion, as the Forums primary purpose is the sharing of information, without which our hobby would be severely curtailed. Pictures would be a great help with regards identification. Kevin in Deva. -
Seeing the medal has the dates 1874 - 1924 the owner / seller / collector might have added the ribbon with a connection to the 1870 - 71 war with France, probably because its the nearest war ribbon to the founding of the Veterans Bund, which no doubt initially had many veterans from that war. Hallo AlecH, A great clean-up job with regards the medal, however, just a note of caution with regards ribbons, great care must be taken with regards these as the old dyes used in the colour process are notorious for running even when placed into cold water. Depending on the age condition of the ribbon, one could be tempted to reverse the ribbon (turn it inside out)presenting the fresh side out, but if it were left to me I would leave it as is. Kevin in Deva.

Probably just that, a story. I doubt if there is much of a way to verify it, without pictorial evidence. Kevin in Deva

WW2 medals
Kev in Deva replied to Ian D's topic in Great Britain: Orders, Gallantry, Campaign Medals
Hallo Ian, Needless to say your father was in a Polish Unit. Really would need to see better pictures or scans of the medals. Number 1 is a Jerusalem Cross. Number 2. possibly a Polish Military Service Medal. Number 3, I believe is a Polish Regiment Cross. Number 4 & 5 for the moment unknown. By the way looking at the British mini medals, one of the larger British Stars is missing from the set. Kevin in Deva. -
