Ed_Haynes Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Though WAY out of my field, I find this a really interesting thread. Thanks, mates!
Schießplatzmeister Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Hello Stogieman:My guess would be that this is a case for a Royal Saxon Fire Brigade Service Award Bar.Thanks!"SPM"
Stogieman Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Correct! There have been two (2) that appeared this year. I snagged mine as a "BIN" off eBay Germany. About a month later, second one, different seller, Both mint boxed, second one went for more than mine.
Stogieman Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 But Wait!!! Prior to the appearance of these.... almost 6 years ago and before this year the only one known....
Stogieman Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Again, Mint/Cased. The only miniature bar I've ever seen. All 3 cases were identical, all Scharffenberg/Dresden. Yummy!
Wild Card Posted November 18, 2006 Author Posted November 18, 2006 Stogie,Rarity + Case + Mini = somewhere off the chart! Congratulaions,Wild Card
Schießplatzmeister Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Dear Stogieman:What super pieces! I have not seen another cased Saxon Landwehr LS bar either, and the miniature is something that is undoubtedly almost unique. Thanks for showing us these great items!Unfortunately, my technical ability to send scans or photos is still lacking at this time, so I ask that someone else submit another mystery case for our analysis.Best regards,"SPM"
Stogieman Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 The cased Military LS Bar originally came from Detlev Niemann about 1999, if memory serves. I have never seen a miniature bar before, or since. What surprised me was when the Fire LS Bar popped up in the same case, it was obviously correct.... perfect match for the case I already had. But was really surprising was the value assigned to the bar itself by J?rg Nimmergut. Apparently, there's not many of these around.
Stogieman Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 I can run with this for awhile, Now be very careful... I want to know exactly what is in this one:
Stogieman Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 BTW, you didn't think it would be easy like these, did you???Heh, heh, heh
saschaw Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 I can run with this for awhile, Now be very careful... I want to know exactly what is in this one:Exactly? I'd think most likely a merit cross of the Baden Order of the Z?hringer Lion, silver gilt version. Exactly enough? But as far as I know, the cases for the merit crosses are the same as late ones for the knight crosses, and it's the only type I've seen more than once. There are maaaany different around for the knight crosses ...
Stogieman Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Anybody else wish to test themselves???? Close, very close...
Claudio Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Is that the case of a "Verdienstkreuz f?r Frauen und Jungfrauen, 1871"?
Tom Y Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Is that the case of a "Verdienstkreuz f?r Frauen und Jungfrauen, 1871"?Right first try
Wild Card Posted November 26, 2006 Author Posted November 26, 2006 Gentlemen,Here is a case which apparently unique to its? resident. It measures 90.5 x 51 x 19 mm. Have at it.
