Ed_Haynes Posted March 17, 2007 Author Posted March 17, 2007 Ready for a non-PhotoShopped holy grail?
Ed_Haynes Posted March 17, 2007 Author Posted March 17, 2007 (edited) Numbering? Complex.Originally "No. 5__" but this has been erased and replaced with "No. 69". Edited March 17, 2007 by Ed_Haynes
Ed_Haynes Posted March 17, 2007 Author Posted March 17, 2007 OK, maybe all else pales by comparison, but I'll try (hands still shaking and light bad).
Christophe Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Ed,Even if this thread began very well, it is now becoming more and more interesting!!!! You have really found a gold mine!!!!! Congratulations!!! Will you bring them back and post them in the Forum? Cheers.Ch.
Vatjan Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 I cannot believe what I'm seeing no wonder you're shaking, just seeing these pix has me shaking also.WOWThese will be great additions to your collection Ed, congratulations.
Christophe Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 BTW, Ed, I hope you won't have any pb exporting these... I don't know what the regulations are in Mogolia, but... may seem like a lot of extremely valuable stuff for a customs officer... Ch.
Riley1965 Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Ed,Thanks for all of the pictures from your trip. Mongolia looks like a beautiful country. I loved the pics from the country side and the historical locations. For guys like me that is the closest I'd ever get to Mongolia. I hope that you had a GREAT trip. Doc
DutchBoy Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Holy cr*p! My jaw just dropped, unfortunately while I was eating breakfast. I've never seen anything like it.Here are my reactions in order of appearance:
Bob Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Very nice I am curious, what prices are being quoted for these in Mongolia (I recently had a Hero star offered to me for 25K USD).Bob
Ed_Haynes Posted March 18, 2007 Author Posted March 18, 2007 Very nice I am curious, what prices are being quoted for these in Mongolia (I recently had a Hero star offered to me for 25K USD).Bob$25,000 would seem a little high, but not unreasonable. The silly price asked for this one was $100,000.I mentioned they all read Igor's website, didn't I?
Bob Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 $25,000 would seem a little high, but not unreasonable. The silly price asked for this one was $100,000.I mentioned they all read Igor's website, didn't I?Yes, and that'll drive an inflationary effect on Mongolian awards I am sure... hold on tight! The 25K i was offered was from Moscow so I was hoping UB would be substantially lower... 100K us certainly not lower:)
Ed_Haynes Posted March 18, 2007 Author Posted March 18, 2007 Yes, and that'll drive an inflationary effect on Mongolian awards I am sure... hold on tight!Expecially when supply is stagnant, the deluge from the bank -- coinciding with Bat's book and the influx of new collectors -- violated everything I learned in ECON 101 and prices didn't crash. Laws are now in force, skewed by the Internet.Mostly (with a sole major exception) everything I saw was common stuff, Polar Stars and a very few Combat Valors, and at "Alexei prices", ranging up to "Igor prices". Some admitted to having Sukhbaatars, but planned on holding onto them until prices rose.
Bob Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Would be nice if some of these "dealers" would join GMIC. Worst case, just to share their items which will surely help in connecting the dots.
Bob Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 $25,000 would seem a little high, but not unreasonable. The silly price asked for this one was $100,000.I mentioned they all read Igor's website, didn't I?Not just reading, but also supplying... (perhaps even on consignment?). Seems like a lot of money stuck in inventory for this guy in a country where that kind of money can buy you a lot of other stuff...
Lukasz Gaszewski Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Really fantastic, Ed!!! I think I won't be far from the truth to say we all on this forum do envy you your trip. Lukasz
Gerd Becker Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I cannot believe, what i am seeing. Ed, i thought, you couldn?t top the first type Mongolian Hero, but you never fail to amaze me. WOW!
