Reini Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 (edited) And now some of the interior. In the first one , you can see the wooden base insert. The arrow points to it. Edited August 14, 2005 by Reini
Reini Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 (edited) In this one , the arrow points to one of the glue spots. You can see the proper brown coloring of the glue around the edges. Edited August 14, 2005 by Reini
Reini Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 Here is a good shot of the spring mechanism on the clasp. The arrow is pointing to the strip of material which covers the mechanism. It is this strip to which the insert is still partially glued and that is why it is raised in the photo.
Reini Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 Here's one more showing the pencil note that one often sees in these cases with the inserts removed. I assume these notes were for keeping the proper pieces with the proper hardware. Please, let me know what you guys think. I can add that this piece has the proper 'smell' to it , too , but you will have to take my word for that!BestKurt
Guest WAR LORD Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 I have a badge in a box very similar tho the one shown. It has a brase stud as the one shown. The hinge is steal on mine.
Scott Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Hi - new guy here. Great forum, and great thread. I only have a few cased Luft awards, and I don't get much of a chance to show them off. Hope you don't mind if I post them here.First is my bronze bomber by Osang (buntmetal)

Marcus H Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 If you've got some more pic's of the PO on post 53 I think it was I'll take a look.No cardboard boxes yet in here, here's a crappy zincer or the unknown maker in box, I've the airgunner too.
Marcus H Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 (edited) A late war LGAB lives in here, nothing special Edited September 7, 2005 by Marcus H
Marcus H Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 I've a few more John, I'll have to find the pic's later.
Reini Posted September 7, 2005 Author Posted September 7, 2005 Marcus,Do you want more pics of the badge or the case? Either way , just let me know. I would like to hear any opinions on this case or badge. The badge is obviously good , but I haven't seen another case exactly like this one. However , I must say , I am certain is it original. Thanks for any help! BestKurt
Marcus H Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Hi Kurt,Can you extrude the base all the way out, don't do this if not you're comfortable with it or force it.Could I see a picture of the catch from the front on the level with lid open so I can see the 'head of the catch straight on.KrMarcus
Frank M Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Although not technically, a "case", here's one of my Luftwaffe Erdkampfabzeichen, and its accompanying packet.Frank
J Temple-West Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Hi Frank,Is there any chance of a close-up of the badge + Is the packet maker stamped?
Paul R Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 That is the best collection of LW Badges I have ever seen! I have never seen so many cased awards!! Paul
Frank M Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Yes, I can get some close ups, however, it won't be but for a bit. I still have the award, and its packet, but I am not in a position for the moment to take additional shots of it. Just a week out or so should do it.Respectfully,Frank
Stogieman Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Still my favorite cased Luftwaffe Badge:
Stogieman Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Any others? Bring 'em on! More, more, more... the variety here is just scratching the surface. I really like the late-war boxes. There's so very, very few of these left anymore.
