Soviet what order should i resaerch!

ok im planning to get a number of my higher soviet awards researched this year but what shoudl i do first!! heres what i have

Nevsky in the 42 xxx range

Lenin in the 215 xxx range

Red banner in the 90 xxx range

Order of glory 2n class in th 24 xxx range

PW 1st class in the 226 xxx range

Pw 2nd class in the 417 xxx range

Combat service in the 168 xxx range

October revaloution(?) in the 104 xxx range

Red star in the 810 xxx range

i was thinking of the nevsky first then the glory then the combat service! i reckon the lenin was for long service so il leave that for a bit but the red banner looks intresting to! also not forgetting the PW 1st class!!! so what do you guys reckon?

Dear Paddy,

my first 3 ranks - just my feeling:

1) Glory 2cl (+ his Glory 3cl and the other awards)

2) Red Banner (has a rather low s/n.!)

3) Nevsky

I assume, that your Glory 2cl and the early Red Banner had been confered for quite heroic deeds in the line of fire .

Nevsky

OPW 1st class

Red Banner

Order of Glory 2nd class

OPW 2nd class

Combat Service

Red Star

sorry for not replying sooner i was away in normandy and then when i got back my feckin internet was turned off by by my internet provider!!!

I hope, that my feelings will result in great citations .

A RB in the 90 xxx range garants two things:

- it's an authentic GPW-award

- it's NOT a long service award

If you look at the statutes and regulations in the Red PMD-bible of these 3 orders, which you are going to get researched, then you will see, that the receipients have to have fullfilled in each case great deeds .

Glory 2cl: Either an NCO, or (rarer case) a private. Or - extremly rare - a junior-officer of the airforce (fighter or ground-attack).

RB: I guess, a lower ranking officer, or (rarer case) a NCO.

Nevsky: Has to be a CO of an unit. Usually a platoon leader, but can go up (rarer cases) to regimental or even divisional level.

My rank-guessings for the time, they got their orders confered:

- Glory 2cl: Sergeant

- RB: Captain

- Nevsky: Lieutenant

If I were you I would request research now. It won't take long to do so, but it will take many months before you get results.

Things are running really, REALLY slow just now. I have been told that by June the backlog should be cleared, so you may wish to postpone until then.
