Motorhead Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 (edited) This one dropped in today-but is it the real deal? Of course not an awarded piece, but a private purchase of the 20ies/30ies...What do you think-keep it or send t back?micha Edited August 25, 2007 by Motorhead
Motorhead Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 Open...my camera can't show the real color-it's a dark purple,not blue!
Motorhead Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 Backside with a half scratched off sticker from B.H Meyer........
Deruelle Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Hi, Always interresting to have a cross with screw back and with the box. RegardsChristophe
medalnet Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Isn't Meyer (Hofkunstanstalt) an Austrian Manufacturer?
Mike K Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Hi Micha,I was watching this one out of curiosity. Personally I thought the cross was OK - at least no alarm bells and the screwback system looks believable. The case I also thought looked old. Whether the case and cross belong to each other is anyone's guess. From your image, there seems to be an old impression of something else? There seems to be the impression of a ?crown above where the top cross arm lies??RegardsMike
Motorhead Posted August 24, 2007 Author Posted August 24, 2007 Hmm....OK,now it looks like we have a private purchased FF cross in an austrian case? So,where are the austrian specialists-what could have been in it originally? Think I'm sending it back because for a non matching set the price was a little bit to high.....micha

The company made all kinds of private purchase medals and crosses.Regards, Hardy Edited August 24, 2007 by Naxos

militaria0815 Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 It looks real to me. Nothing to indicate otherwise...Not an awarded item, strictly speaking NOT an original piece.
ccj Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Not an awarded item, strictly speaking NOT an original piece.Well, I guess this means a lot of EKIs are not original. I never thought of these awards this way but I guess it makes sense. Most people don't want non issue GMVK, HHO, etc.
Motorhead Posted August 25, 2007 Author Posted August 25, 2007 As I said-private purchase of the 20ies,30ies...Micha
joe campbell Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 As I said-private purchase of the 20ies,30ies...Michaand to my mind, highly collectible as such.many of these were made by the originalmanufacturers, and my understanding isthat you could not just walk in and say"gimme two HHO's, three EK's, and a PLM...".my brother has a bronze star from duty inRVN and had an extra copy or two. in my opinion,ALL of them represented his service.nice piece, micha!joe
