    Hi Guys!

I bought 10 years ago this hemet, now are coming from east (Cina too :banger: ) many fakes para helmets very very similar to the original one and perfect in any parts (inside and outside...........).

May I have an expert opinion about mine? I'll be very grateful to you

I found on Angolia Luftwaffe book a net like mine.

    Many thanks from OTIS

OK-- I have fixed this now. Use the "Add reply" to make ONE thread, not a new thread for every post!

Could you post a clear, close-up of the decal? I do not specialise in FJ helmets but do follow discussions on them and do have one example myself. I would like to see some better pics of your helmet before adding my opinion.

    To whom it may concern,

when making a sweeping statement such as "IT'S A COPY" please do feel free to point out why you state this,

as knowledge shared, is important to save members from getting ripped off, thank you

Thanks for the pics. They're not are clear and as close as I would like but from what I can see I do not believe the decal to be original. Looking at the interior I also do not believe it to be original.

As I mentioned I am not specialised at anyway in FJ helmets so I would definitely seek the help of an experienced FJ helmet collector. I do have a good idea how a ET decal should look and the decal on your helmet is not a ET decal. There was only one manufacturer (ET) and only one style of decal is noted (for this style) so already it does not look good.

I'm not seeing the white reaction found between the liner pads and the band. I also feel the leather is not correct in the straps and the liner.

Here's my example. I hope you can see what I mean.

Thank you  Lothringen + Kev in Deva!!

I share Kev opinion about that a sweeping statement such as "IT'S A COPY" may have a getting ripped off with our common interess in militaria......also because Fallschirmj?ger helmets are the one of the most espensive :banger: !

I am grateful to Lothring for Pic, but I should have more information about the red arrow because I don't understend what he means and it should be very important for all members that would understand what kind of elements are able to make difference between original and fake fallschirmjager helmets.

Thank you very much from OTIS

Is it sufficient or it is necessary to write it ???!!!!

    Dear Lothringen,

thank you for your reply, as a probationary member here, you may be unfamiliar with the purpose of this forum,

it is for like-minded people to share information about their militaria interests and items,

not every member is an "expert" in all military items they may possess, or be interested in obtaining,

thats why they ask for help, thats why its very helpful if you can explain why you feel the item is a fake / copy / repro.

Now, all I see in your last post are a couple of pictures, which have certain areas highlighted in RED,

perhaps you would care to explain to us who have NO knowledge with regards German para helmets what this indicates.

If you are not willing to share some of your knowledge, then what is the point of belonging to a Militaria Forum?

    thank you,

    Kevin in Deva

Thank you, Xavier, for your help here.

Hey Kev, lets cut the man a bit of slack. You are right about detailed answers being most helpful but with Xavier being from France, maybe his English is not as good as ours. He clearly has a level of expertise beyond anyone who has posted in this thread thus far.

    the comment:

    thank you,

is not directed at Xavier personally, but made with regards the fact that a simple "Its is a copy", made by anybody, really needs to be backed up, with some type of an explanation, as I have said we are NOT all experts here on all forms of militaria.

    RICH ,

YOU SAID THAT YOU ARE NOT AN EXPERT BUT YOU DON T NEED ... YOU HAVE ALL YOU NEED ,YOUR HELMET SEEMS TO BE A KILLER (CLOSE TO MINT)

    MISTER KEVIN ,

I AM A MEMBER OF DIFFERENT FORUMS AND I HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT IT IS THE FIRST TIME I RECEIVED AN ANSWER LIKE THAT !!!

I AM READY TO HELP EVERYBODY AND EVERYTIME.

NEVERTHELESS SOME MEMBER (OR MODERATOR) TOLD ME TO NOT DETAIL TOO MUCH MY ANSWER AND MY PHOTOS : WE ARE HERE FOR HELPING AND NOT EDUCATING THE FAKER !

MY FIRST CONCERN IS TO GIVE A FAST ANSWER BUT THE TIME IS A PROBLEM TO EXPLAIN (MY ENGLISH IS A PROBLEM TOO)...

I regret because i were thinking that photographs showing points to be noticed (red arrow) would be enough but it was more interesting for KEVIN to look at my post than to search photographs of original helmets to compare !!!!

THIS BEING SAID, I MUST SAY TO YOU THAT YOUR COMMENTS CONCERNING MY PREVIOUS POSTS MAKE ME NERVOUS.

THEN FOR CONCLUDE OTIS ASKED ONLY AN OPINION AND IT WAS A PLEASURE TO GIVE HIM MINE.

PS : It is not necessary to say to me that my ENGLISH is poor, I KNOW IT

after almost getting burned on one of these I have studied them with a passion and the first thing that caught my eye with this helmet was the classic thin guage metal as used by the czech fakers. One should get a data base of helmet weights in lbs and grams as I believe this is the one deciding factor now with the quality of these repros coming out. IMO

    Hi friends

I am very sorry that my question on fallschirmjager helmet had raised hot discussion between members :speechless: ............

I hope that sometimes is better to received an unwanted answer that to deceive ourself!

Now I am sure that my only original helmet I'll be probably my first that I found when I was 14 years old in an ancient

    palace of my aunt...............

My helmet isn't Czech, I have seen theirs some years ago but they are generally large size (58 or 60) and more light than

    mine.

In any case I would be grateful to some members that should be able to send a pic of original one.

Sorry for my poor english, but as Xavier I have some problem to translate Italian in English language

Be aware there are two generations of the fakes from that country and the size and weight are much improved plus the strap and cushions are well aged but sorry to bother

    Gentleman,

I read Kevin's post and took it in a completely different vein. We must remember that what is written lacks the emotion and tone that would have been in a verbal exchange. So not only do we have a difficulty with different languages we also have problems in how we interpret the written word.

To Otis and Xavier let me say that your use of English is much better than my use of your languages. Cheers to you both

This is a great forum for research but I must say that at times we forget that there are many out here (me) who need a lot of pointers concerning items that we are unfamiliar with. I still can't tell a real EK I or EK II from a copy unless it is so poor a copy that anyone could see it as a fake. So thanks to all and please keep up the good work.

    Cheers and another beer.

Nah, Brian, Kevin was just being Kevin. The tone and attitude came through loud and clear. Here he is, as "ConnaughtRanger", weighing in with a bit of gratuitous prodnosing about our fairly harmless YouTube videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYoIK-Sn3Fk. But that's Kevin. That's what he does. No point in getting annoyed about it. It's like being cross with a dog for barking.
