This series of awards appears in the ribbon bars of many Bundeswehr General officers. Here is an example that was on the mess dress tunic of a two star general recently sold on ebay.de. Sorry that I can not make the picture any bigger. If I do it gets too fuzzy to use at all.

No it isn't. It was listed in the auction as the Order of Merit First Class. Unless you had a list of the tunics owners awards it could be very hard to tell though. The miniature for the Order of Merit First Class and the Gross Verdienstkreuz are very similar.

that is the difference:

left Verdienstkreuz am Band and 1. Klasse, right Gro?es Verdienstkreuz and Gro?kreuz.
