RICK SCHMID Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Hi Guys, Take a look, and tell my the story.OttoNice combination. and parade mounts
Paul R Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 That is an odd combo... A combatant EK2 and a NONcombatant Hindenburg Cross. How common is this duo?Paul
George Stimson Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 It's not common. (I wish I had one!)
Paul R Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I read a couple of books on the Iron Cross a couple of years ago. I remember reading somewhere that noncombatants sometimes received the combatant version... for reasons unknown. But that leads me to another question... Why would this indiviual received the Hindenburg Cross without swords. Unless one of the medals on this bar is a manufactoring mistake!Best regardsPaul
Chris Boonzaier Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I have a set like taht, or at least the documents. the guy was at a HQ somewhere and got his EK for service.when it came to applying for his HK he was a non cambattant.bestChris
joe campbell Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 there also was a limited issue of noncombatant awards withblack/white/black/white/black ribbons to noncombatants, medical, close to front line service, with an appropriatedocument.see nimmergut.i'll try to find the specific page, but it's inthe prussian section (...duh...).very unusual presentation.joe
Paul R Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Thank you, Chris and Joe, for your explainations. They both make sense. Thank you for posting this interesting and uncommon bar.

I had a stickpin with that group, but in a weak moment let it slip away Edited October 13, 2005 by Tom Y
