Christophe Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 Here are the answers about the 1st Class of the Order of Merit for the Country of the Federation of Russia :1. Who has been the first recipient of the 1st Class of the Order of Merit for the Country of the Federation of Russia ?Jacques Chirac2. And when ?24 September 1997.Chirac has been awarded this order by President Yeltsin because of "his personal commitment in expanding cooperation" between Paris and Moscow. This visit of Chirac in Russia was based on the idea of developing a privileged partnership with Russia. So, for the 1st Class, Order of Victory, you are (at the present time) the winner!!!!But who will find for the 2nd Class ? Not easy, because nothing on the web on this subject...A hint : the first recipient of the 2nd Class of this Order is a Soviet legend . He wears his order on several known photos...Who is he ? And the date ?Ch.

Christophe Posted August 26, 2006 Author Posted August 26, 2006 Just coming back from holidays, and... nothing happened in this thread during the last 3 weeks !!!Order of Victory, just as a reminder... It's your turn, now!!! Cheers.Ch.
order_of_victory Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Christophe,Thanks for the reminder Heres my question:Below is a picture of a Hero of Soviet Union stood by a very attractive car:Can you name the Hero? Can you name the car? Any you wil get a bonus point if you can date the photo as well Order of Victory
Wild Card Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 The Hero looks like Yuri Gagarin. The car would be either a ZIL 6500GT or a German Trabant 2500 Super Sport coupe.Okay, I?m not so good with cars.
order_of_victory Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Spot on with the Hero not so good with Car, its not a Zil or a Trabant Order of Victory
order_of_victory Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Correct: with Yuri Gagarin, but a few years out with the date Order of Victory
Christophe Posted August 28, 2006 Author Posted August 28, 2006 Order of Victory,Thanks for the question. For the Hero others have already found, so nothinf to add. For the car and the date... I will try to investigate. The car looks italian to me... but maybe am I wrong...Cheers.Ch.
Chuck In Oregon Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Correct: with Yuri Gagarin, but a few years out with the date Order of Victory* * * * *I guess I should have recognized that isn't a 1961 car!Chuck
Christophe Posted August 28, 2006 Author Posted August 28, 2006 Just a thought... Would it be possible the car is a French one (or a t least with a french number plate... ) ?Ch.
order_of_victory Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 No its not French, I dont think, but it does share part of its name with a french car BTW the Reg is not french its Russian Moscow plates are the same as Paris 7X prefix, but other Russian Cities are letter coded like the old English system. Heres a Rostov Don Reg plate I have lying round Order of Victroy
Christophe Posted August 28, 2006 Author Posted August 28, 2006 No its not French, I dont think, but it does share part of its name with a french car (...)Order of VictroySo, back to Italy.. Maserati will be my guess. But what precise car ?Ch.
Wild Card Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 This is really scary when you realize that we are looking at a car that has to be 40 (give or take) years old and still looks like next year?s model!Having eliminated a French make, I would go Italian. I don?t remember a Ferrari quite like this and for some reason would eliminate Maserati, so that would leave among others, Lamborgini. Often Lamborghini has favored that blunted look below the hood line and vents in the hood - so, it?s worth a guess.Lamborghini?
order_of_victory Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 (edited) Not Audi or Lamborghini Christophe, not Maserati either To sumerise the car is not Italien So we are still looking for the Name of the care and the date th photo was taken Order of Victory Edited August 30, 2006 by order_of_victory
Christophe Posted August 30, 2006 Author Posted August 30, 2006 OK, Gagarin came in Paris on 26 September 1963. A Matra Jet car has been offered to him. This is the car... but it is French .About the date of the photo, I have to check... Does not seem to be taken in Paris, but maybe I am wrong.Ch.
order_of_victory Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 ChristopheSorry, my inabillity to read Russian creeping through there Thats the last time I post a question from a Russian book with English sub text So you are correct , but whats the full name of vehicle Order of VictoryP.S I have eddited my other post to reflect that
Christophe Posted August 30, 2006 Author Posted August 30, 2006 I think the full name of the vehicle is Matra jet 6.But for the date of the pic, I'm not sure. the pic you posted seems having been taken in USSR... not in Paris.Ch.
