Christian Zulus Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 (edited) NEW QUESTIONDue to the fact, that Simon's photograph can be found at the cover of the book about Marshall Shaposhnikov, I will be so free to post a new question for our quiz.WHO AM I ?I knew Stalin personally.I had something to do with "Honi soit qui mal y pense".I - or a famous speech of me - had something to do with that person, who invented the submarine-boat and the naval steam-ship and who you can see at that picture:Best regards Christian Edited January 21, 2007 by Christian Zulus

Guest RedThreat Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 (edited) Christian:I googled in on the answer. It was a clever question. SimonP.S. Just like most events recently brought up on this thread, this one took place close to where I live. I must be living next to centers of Soviet military and political history Edited January 21, 2007 by RedThreat

Christian Zulus Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 The man is Winston ChurchillCongratulations, Ivan, you have won .It is your turn to post a question.Best regardsChristianBTW: Fulton & Fulton-Speech - "Iron Curtain ....".
Ed_Haynes Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 But he never received any Soviet awards did he? (Though his wife did. )
Christian Zulus Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 But he never received any Soviet awards did he? (Though his wife did. )Dear Ed,I think, that there had been an agreement among the "Big 3" - Churchill, Roosevelt & Stalin - NOT to exchange decorations among themselves. But the next level of hierarchy got the "full load" :Montgomery & Eisenhower got their "Victories", Zhukov his GCB http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Bath , etc., etc.But Churchill got his Order of the Garter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Garter , which he probably liked more, than a "Victory" .Best regards Christian
Christian Zulus Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Churchill's Fulton-SpeechGentlemen,Churchill's famous speech at the 5th of march 1946 had been a reaction to Stalin's statement, he gave at a speech in Moscow in february 1946, that "world capitalism proceeds through crisis and the catastrophes of war". Well, who would say, that this statement is sooooo wrong .O.K., Stalin's pragmatic statement was nothing new for educated economists & historians - similar statements you found already in the writings of Marx, Engels, Lenin, etc. -, but it seemed approbriate to start the new "Cold War" officially.Churchill's "Iron-Curtain-Speech" http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/mod/churchill-iron.html had been the introduction of the "Cold War"-concept in the public.Actually the "Cold War" started with the death of President Roosevelt almost one year before Fulton, in my opinion. The "Cold War" ended in 1991 with the collapse of the Soviet Union and the victory of the USA. Due to that historic fact, we are able to collect Soviet Orders & Medals .Best regards Christian

order_of_victory Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 (edited) Yes, comrade. Property of the workers. Them's us.Dont forget though all property is theft Comrade Vic Edited January 25, 2007 by order_of_victory
Ed_Haynes Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Dont forget though all property is theft Comrade VicNot collectively owned property, comrade, for it is now owned by the immoral misappropriation if the labor of others. This is no simple bourgeois property!(Yes, I have been re-reading the Manifesto!)
Christian Zulus Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Socialism vs. RealityDear Christophe, but it is your intellectual property .Best regardsChristianGentlemen, the owner of GMIC is citizen of the UK. So the UK-laws apply to our forum. So according to UK-laws the "quiz" is the intellectual property of Christophe, despite the scientific fact, that property is theft! The fact is, that the recent UK is NOT the former CCCP - maybe the UK will convert to the first true Socialist socitey in Europe .BTW: 26 years ago, I wrote an article in an Austrian political magazine about the (very) left wing of the British Labour Party after a meeting with their politicians in London ."Ein Gespenst geht um in Europa - das Gespenst des Kommunismus. (Karl Marx / Friedrich Engels - 1848)Best regards Christian
