CRBeery Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I am one of those collectors that just can not get off the fence and decide if I want to collect TR or Imperial German items. I prefer Imperial but sometimes something nice comes along and I just can't help it. I went to a new show for me this weekend in a very small hall. I was an hour late getting there and a few local sharks were there when I arrived. Third table in I found this! I could not believe it and the price was very nice for me. This is what I saw.
CRBeery Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 I first looked at the case and it is a very nice original.
CRBeery Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 Next I looked at the EK. The paint is different from the few others I have. The paint is not reflective and I describe it as "dead". I has a great effect when looking at it. It really pulled me into this cross. You can see patina but no marks or dings in the frame. I think it is unworn or nearly so.
CRBeery Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 The pin has the K&Q 65 mark. This is one of the nicest conditioned items I have personally found. Enjoy.
Guest Darrell Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Very nice Chet ... a real good looking cross and case. The "65" is one that is a sought after maker.
CRBeery Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 Thanks Darrell. I was pretty happy to see the mm on there. This is one of those items I bought thinking I would resell it and put the cash towards an Imperial item but then I fell in love
joe campbell Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 this is a CHERRY K&Q cross! (beery's cherry??)i have heard this finish called stovepipe, but don't know if it's accurate.it fits, though.very nice pickup. i know what you mean about some TR stuff.joe
Dave B Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Beautiful K&Q with as Joe rightly says a "textbook" K&Q stovepipe finish!...Congratulations.Dave
Rendsburg Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Hi Fellow,GreatQ&K!I drink for it ( but only orange juice ), cheers.Otto
Jim Baker Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 VERY nice. I knew that one was a K&Q from the first photo. My personal favorite, and I also think the best looking make of RK.
Bob Hunter Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Very nice K&Q, Chet. Congratulations on your find!
Jim Baker Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 I had to look at this one again. If I ever go back to buying EK's, it will be a K&Q. These are the only EK's that look good regardless of wear. Just beautiful!!
