VtwinVince Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Could people please post images of this badge. I have two, which are of markedly different quality.
Deruelle Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 HiIs that this badge on the Goltz uniform ?Christophe
Komtur Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Unfortunately on that one the three pins the badge is fixed with on the ribbon are broken. Some stupid person replaced it with glue. But now we can see it from reverse too. It is minted of two separate parts, the XXV and the wreath. Note the remains of the three pins on the back and the hole of these pins on the ribbon.
VtwinVince Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 Thanks for the information. I have one on the Crown Order ribbon, which is the same as the one on the white ribbon. I also have one on the Lifesaving Medal ribbon, and on it the badge is one piece, and the pin on the back is different. I wonder if it might be a replacement piece, as it certainly looks period, just not as good quality.
RAO Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Hello to Canada,a badge on a ribbon of lifesaving medal is not possible. The badges were only on for Prussian ORDERS or ribbons from white output. Ribbons for EHRENZEICHEN are not possible. Sorry for my bad english I hope you understand what I mine. Best Regards Mike
Komtur Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 ... I also have one on the Lifesaving Medal ribbon, and on it the badge is one piece, and the pin on the back is different. I wonder if it might be a replacement piece, as it certainly looks period, just not as good quality. As far as I know, there were no awards on the Livesaving Medal ribbon. This decoration was handed out on the ribbon of the the last awarded Prussian order. There was only one exception: the ribbon of the "Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen" for the veterans of the 2. Kompanie 1. Garde-Rgt. zu Fu?, Wilhelm commanded as prince 25 years before.Very similar to the ribbon of the Livesaving Medal is the ribbon of the grandcross of the Red Eagle Order. May be it is this one on your bagde. On the other hand there are copies around, I would be careful.Best regards,Komtur.
VtwinVince Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 Thanks for the information, very useful. I guess I'm stuck with a forgery, although I find it surprising that someone would go to the trouble of making a good copy, but then putting it on the wrong ribbon. I would post scans of this thing, but I can't get photos to post on this site.
RAO Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 You can send me a Email from your pictures.thuner@web.deRegards Mike
Wild Card Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Gentlemen,Here is another ?white ribbon? badge which I bought from George Seymour some years ago. I seem to remember him saying that these were awarded to foreigners and/or native Prussians who did not hold a Prussian order.Regards, Wild Card
Wild Card Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Here is an example of a case in which these badges were presented...
Wild Card Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 in which we find a badge to a holder of the Prussian Order of the Black Eagle

Wild Card Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 (edited) Incredible Wild Card. Tell me is there a medal missed in your collection. Your house should be a Museum. It's a real pleasure for us to see such items in good condtion like yours.many thanks for sharing these beauties with usChristopheThank you very much for the compliments. Actually, my collection is not really that big. It just seems that I have had a run of luck where a good number of topics have been posted to which I can contribute.Unfortunately because of these times in which we live, very little of my collection is at my house at any one time. It is spread out among several banks and with friends who can keep pieces safely. As a matter of fact, I am awaiting the arrival of two more pieces later today, which I will post on this thread. It is a pleasure to post illustrations of pieces when they can add additional knowledge to our collecting community. Just think, if we were to keep what we have to ourselves, consider how much less any of us would know.Thank you again and best wishes, Wild Card Edited May 21, 2009 by Wild Card
RAO Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 To view the beautiful display of Wild Card to complete, here the insignia of the Grand Duchess Luise of Baden on the ribbon of the Luisen Order. Best wishes, Mike
