I'm curious to learn if you think this is worth getting. I like the look of it and it gives me a good feeling.. am I right?! As previously stated, these are rather common. Therefore, the desirability of this item depends upon the price at which it is offered. It is a magnificent little piece I am absolutely psyched about it... This is beside the fact that I am so happy to be the proud owner of a Red Eagle finally. I do want to thank all here for being so good to point out what to look for etc etc.. This forum can be great. The higher classes (3rd, 2nd, 1st, grandcross), normally made of gold, were from 1916 to 1918 officially in silver gilded. There are also other materials of these higher classes like bronce gilded or also silver gilded before 1916, but only as private purchased pieces ("Spangenstücke") Regards, Komtur.
