Claudio Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Dear all:I would like to post some very nice iron crosses I have the pleasure to own. The iron cross 1914 was produced in many different variations; that makes it so interesting! I am always looking to get a particular cross, with its unique design, construction type and material.I hope with this to stimulate a healthy exchange of knowledge; therefore, don't hesitate to post yours!I begin with my first iron cross (maker GODET!) I bought it back in 1986 by post (there was no picture on the catalogue) for about DM 55.-. Back then it was a lot of money for a 18 years young collector!Ciao,ClaudioP.S.: size: 42.5 mm x 42.5 mm, weight: 17.3 g
Claudio Posted December 22, 2005 Author Posted December 22, 2005 (edited) The second is a very special iron cross with a very complicated "pin system" on the reverse. These are really scarce and are very desirable for iron cross' collectors.Ciao,ClaudioP.S.: size: 43.5 mm x 43.5 mm, weight: 21.7 g Edited December 22, 2005 by Claudio
Claudio Posted December 22, 2005 Author Posted December 22, 2005 Thanks Gerd... here another one; a very elegant looking slightly convex cross with a silver mark 800 on the reverse.
Daniel Murphy Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Claudio, Beautiful pieces. that last one is an unmarked Deutsche Offizier Verein Made cross.Dan Murphy
Glenn R Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Another Deutche Offizier Verein made cross but with a twist......
Glenn R Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 (edited) I still have pictures of a lovely Godet sidehook I used to own, I won't post them though as the cross now belongs to a friend and fellow forum member. I'm sure we can tempt him out of the woodwork with it!!!!You know who you are Edited December 29, 2005 by Glenn R
joe campbell Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 goodness they are beautiful...ALL of them....and these are la creme de la creme!thanks for the beauty pageant!joe
Les Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Here's my side-hook EK that's marked "800" with no other markings. The core and other attributes are identical to the type made by Godet however. This isn't the one Glenn is referring to.... First the front:Les
Stogieman Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Now that sure looks like a Godet to me. Pin, hinge, catch and hooks....... right on the money
Gerd Becker Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Awesome EK?s here Glenn, as i never handled one, i never understood, how that system on the KMST works. What a fantastic example Gerd
Claudio Posted December 29, 2005 Author Posted December 29, 2005 @ Glenn: beautiful examples, especially the one named... beautiful time-period "Gravur"!!! @ Les: Great example, as well. I am still looking for an Iron Cross 1st class with side hooks... very rare and desirable! Ciao,Claudio
Glenn R Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Gerd, here's another picture of the KMST action for your reference...
Bob Hunter Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Nothing particularly fancy here. Just your basic cased S-W with an inscription...
CHRIS W Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Here's the only one I have so it's special to me
Glenn R Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 That's a sweet cross Chris. It would be special in any collection.
