RAO Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 maker mark Give us absolutely like the weight. Greetings Mike
Wild Card Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Looks good to me, but I will certainly defer to whatever RAO says.
medalnet Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Sorry, but this is a prime example of a forgery contracted out by a certain German medal dealer, way after the end of WWII even.
VtwinVince Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 (edited) Seem to be a lot of inclusions in the enamel, and the mark does not look quite right. I would defer to what Andreas and Mike have to say on this one. Edited August 28, 2010 by VtwinVince
RAO Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 You mean weight? With or w/out ring? Yes the weight with and without loop, when you can. Is it gold or silver gilt? My first look for that is not good. Greetings Mike
kustik12 Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 Seller says its silver gilt. Ask him about the weight. Thanks for your opinion.
kustik12 Posted August 30, 2010 Author Posted August 30, 2010 Nicht verstehen. Nicht sprache die Deutsche.
Motorhead Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) If you look at the eagle painting and the file traces at the cross arm flanges you don't need the weight........ Micha Edited August 31, 2010 by Motorhead
Schießplatzmeister Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 it's a copy? I believe that the term "forgery" would be more appropriate. "SPM"
Oops, I was mentaly in a different forum I meant to wirte as already translated above, that this one has the typical characteristics of a fake. That particular eagle painting design as well as the crude workmanship gives it away.
Claudio Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I also got fooled once by one of these, but I could return it fortunately (German Auction House). The hand-painting of the eagle looked quite a lot like this piece shown here. I think it's not even painted but it's a decalcomania (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decalcomania ). Ciao, Claudio
eurorders Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 I think the range of gold weights on this order and this class might range 25 to 34 grams.
