Ed_Haynes Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 And, finally, a document from 19 January 1959. A pre-printed 1950s document type.Cover.
Ed_Haynes Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 And a related (?) certificate, from 28 February 1962. Translations needed.
fjcp Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Just thought I'd add my little flock before a few of them go out to pasture on the wicked ebay.....Better and brighter things to replace them though!!!
fjcp Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Ed, I only just noticed that two of your docs. are signed by Bumtsend and Choibalsan!!Just goes to show how important herding really was!Anyway I found these pics and I've been meaning to post them.. I'm just not sure who they belong to or where I found them, but here goes.JC
Guest Rick Research Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Let me say up front that NEVER in my 50 years did I ever imagine the day that I would actually buy one of these.Well, that day was today.I blame You People. You are a baleful influence on a delicate and sensitive person such as moi. This mirror reverse type (serial number 2869-- assuming there are any still inside Mongolia ) is remarkably similar to the Khalkin Gol badges made by the Moscow Artists Cooperative-- in colors of enamel, stamping, and the untarnishing "silver" backing. Because of being balanced on the very silver-looking screwpost, the back here has scanned looking yellowish. It is really that pure never-tarnishing "silver" of WHATEVER the alloy is. I assume it is chemically something other than silver because it (and the Monetny Dvor screw disk) do NOT tarnish, and look frosty-fresh/cleaned but are NOT.I can't wait to see what else You People "make" me do. Inner demons are CHEAPER!!!!!
Ed_Haynes Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Rick, if you have only one in the herd, they will not breed. You need a flock now. Start collecting Mongolian awards, and you'll soon be flocked.
new world Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Rick, welcome, you will find collecting Mongolian awards a very interesting hobby.William
Bob Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Pickings are slim for a long time on ebay... but I'm amazed at the prices now even becoming reality for these herder badges! 170216144094
Guest Rick Research Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Indeed. I haven't seen another one since I got mine. Every single one must now be in a collection.

fjcp Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 HELLO FRIENDSIN MY OPINION A GOOD ONE. PLEASE WRITE ME YOUR OPINION. WHAT'S THE VALUE OF THIS VERSION (FOR INSURANCE REASONS)THANK YOU!KDVRThis is a herder badge J02.This is the most common type and so the lowest price, it also has an incorrect screwplate so I would say no more than $75.I must say though that this one sometimes sells for more...not sure why.CheersJC
fjcp Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I just can't make it out....What is the serial number on that piece???ThanksJC
Ed_Haynes Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 As you'll see by glancing at the relevant threads here, that is well within the range for what we have come to call a Type 2.1.2. Not enough documented items are on record to even begin to put a date on this badge, but as has been said it is the commonest in this fascinating series.
KDVR Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Many thanks for that helpful information. - Do you know for what reason this badge was awarded?- Do you know in which period this version was awarded?- Do you have a screw back left which fits to that badge? Many thank for your great help! KDVRPS: This are my first Mongolian awards. I like them very much!

KDVRPS: This are my first Mongolian awards. I like them very much!Hi KDVR - welcome to the Mongolia forum! Rather than posting new threads, I suggest you search for the right thread covering this award first. It contains a large amount of info which probably answers most if not all of your questions (and more!). If you then add your scans to that big thread it'll help to keep all relevant information together in one thread which makes it easier for us all to learn.Date / serial number threadhttp://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=9917...40&start=40 Edited May 11, 2009 by Bob
Bob Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 And here's the herder badge thread:http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5229...t=0&start=0
Ferdinand Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I've just read the entire topic and I must say you have all done a great job at starting to draw up an image of this beatiful award. I hope to acquire my first one soon.Do we have any idea when these badges were instituted?
