JapanX Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 But really, how does one even go about pricing these historical rarities? By wife or girlfriend anger
RedMaestro Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 By wife or girlfriend anger Of course. Try convincing them it's a good investment But seriously though....?
Paul R Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I would have paid that, although it would have hurt. How often do we come across two order, one of which for Egypt? Cool stuff.
JapanX Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 Very interesing "Egyptian" red star order for anti-aircraft captain ;)
JapanX Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 What does the citation say? ... showed himself as energetic and initiative officer ... ... ensured repel of air raids ... ... courageously and selflessly ... Usual very vague citation ... No wonder! The dude was the deputy of political commissar in 582 anti-aircraft missile regiment (4th battery) ;)
ChrisW Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Nice set! Was there any documentation accompanying the Egyptian medal?
JapanX Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 Nice set! Was there any documentation accompanying the Egyptian medal? Not to my knowledge, but of course there should be some document issued together with Egyptian.
Ulsterman Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 very, very cool. If you ever wish to part with that Vietnam star ...call me. Are there any books/memoirs in Russian about what the Soviet Unions' foreign advisers did during the Cold War?
JapanX Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 If you ever wish to part with that Vietnam star ...call me. Sure thing ... As soon as I`ll find the current owner Are there any books/memoirs in Russian about what the Soviet Unions' foreign advisers did during the Cold War? Yes. Check this veteran site with memoirs and rare photos http://www.nhat-nam.ru/vietnamwar/memory38.html
Ulsterman Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Cool- you know...fame and fortune await the author who does a book on Soviet advisers' exploits in the Cold War...in english.
JapanX Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 Cool- you know...fame and fortune await the author who does a book on Soviet advisers' exploits in the Cold War...in english. Fame and (especially!) fortune ... That`s exactly what I`ve been told the last time ...
JapanX Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 ...the last time? ... I got an offer to write a book (although not about Vietnam or phaleristika )
Ulsterman Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 hmmm....a book about the Soviets in Vietnam entitled "Killing Americans: The USSR Advisers in Vietnam" would sell very, very well. There are a lot of people here who still do not believe they (you) were there. Perhaps you would like to translate the book that came out in Russia in 2005? I am ordering a copy for this guy- whose Russian is a LOT better than mine.... (Rick shown below with rare flag for sale at the last Boxboro show- on offer for $400)
JapanX Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 "Killing Americans: The USSR Advisers in Vietnam" Catchy There are a lot of people here who still do not believe they (you) were there. Flower children? Perhaps you would like to translate the book that came out in Russia in 2005? Perhaps ... But only after I'll finish the first draft of "Killing Americans"
