Jonas E
Hello. Can you help me with information about this badge? It's weight is 26.4 grams. Since it's so heavy I believe it is made of gold. The size is 54*49 mm without the ring. There's no hallmarks. I understand that it is the Military order of st Henry. Can you tell if it is an original? How old can it be? What's the value? Best regards Jonas http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2013/post-11589-0-32023000-1361011314.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2013/post-11589-0-53952300-1361011323.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2013/post-11589-0-97420800-1361011332.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2013/post-11589-0-08670900-1361011342.jpg
Deruelle
Hi, sorry to say that, but for me this is a fake ! Here is my SH3 exxamplar. You can compare the green enameled and the the suspension under the crown. Christophe
medalnet
I like to disagree. In 1957 the reborn Germany passed a law allowing the wear of formerly awarded decorations again. Several companies started making the new decorations again. Most are bronze gilt. You may be able to find catalogs from that time showing accurate pictures of those awards. Of course the Pour le Merite and all higher bravery decorations were part of this, just like the St. Henry.
Chris Boonzaier
So a post 57 made award? My thought is always, at what point do post 57 stop being wearer replacements and become made for collector copies? I remember contacting S+L for a 57 knights cross about 10 years ago. They told me they no longer produced for Veterans, but they did produce for the BDOS... I should contact Werner Sauer, and he collected orders... then ordered from S+L... So for me it was no longer an award for recipients, but had become made for collectors. A seperate question... are there any period awards that had rings like this one? i.e. cut and circled... but not neatly soldered closed?
speedytop
Hi, "In 1957 the reborn Germany passed a law allowing the wear of formerly awarded decorations again." I don't know, what that has anything to do with an Imperial decoration. You could wear Imperial decorations before the law from 1957. And the "several companies" produced the Imperial decorations already before the law from 1957, as not-originals (copies/fakes). And all these companies produced always not only for the veterans. Therefore it is not important, when they produced the decorations, because produced after the award period of the decorations they were always not originals. Before 1957 and after 1957. VtwinVince
I agree that this is a post 1957 version, which has a characteristic center medallion.
