reichsrommel Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Hi Gentlemen Here is another Order of Red Banner. Is this one okay too? Thanks! Regards
paul wood Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I agree with Paul can't see any obvious problems. Paul
paul wood Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 RRIf you do not have a copy of McDaniel you really ought to as it provides illustrations and number ranges (amongst other things) for all the types). Not cheap but a very good investment. The Comprehensive Guide to Soviet Orders & Medals, Paul D., Jr. McDaniel (Author), Paul J. Schmitt (Author)Paul
reichsrommel Posted May 24, 2013 Author Posted May 24, 2013 Hi, Paul I have that book. And other books in Russian as well, especially the collector's series in Russian. But each book describ the number range differently... Regards Tang
Paul R Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 There is that other one by Paul Schmitt, that gets really into great depth on the serial numbers. The green book, "Echos of War".
RedMaestro Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 (edited) As groundbreaking as those two books were, respectfully, there are now a plethora of ways to obtain better information for free online. For types and variations, http://mondvor.narod.ru/ is a good place to start. Edited May 25, 2013 by RedMaestro
Aurelius Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Easier just to post them.lol That's what I do. Having said this, Schmitt's book Echoes has been super helpful with research and worth every penny if you are into the research part of the hobby.
JapanX Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 (edited) The Comprehensive Guide to Soviet Orders & Medals, Paul D., Jr. McDaniel (Author), Paul J. Schmitt (Author) Personally I think "Order of Red Banner" by V. Durov and N. Strekalov is the best book around (and certainly much more comprehensive source than "Comprehensive Guide" ). It was published in 2006 by "Collector’s Books". ISBN: 1-932525-32-7 Edited May 25, 2013 by JapanX
Ferdinand Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 A great book, but for all those westerners who don't speak Russian, The Comprehensive Guide will have to do (for now)...
Aurelius Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 (edited) Thanks Nick, where does one purchase this book pls? Marshall Aukeov, when is your book coming out? Edited May 25, 2013 by Aurelius
JapanX Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 (edited) Thanks Nick, where does one purchase this book pls? PM (uncommercial ) was sent Edited May 25, 2013 by JapanX
JapanX Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 (edited) I remember these too (and others) that were published in Kiev (by ЧПП and Белая церковь) back in 2003-2005. Not bad for its time, but books from CollectorSeries (as we both know ) are much better source of info. Edited May 30, 2013 by JapanX
