Ferdinand Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 That's number three! So far only two officers were known to have received six Red Stars: Lt. Col. Vasily Vasilyevich Salantyev and Col. Pyotr Petrovich Panchenko.
JapanX Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 (edited) Yep. According to this source http://ww2awards.info/sssr/orden_krasnoy_zvezdi.html Lt. Col. Vasily Vasilyevich Silantyev [Силантьев]. Two of his six were longevity awards By the way, do we have their photos? Edited July 31, 2013 by JapanX
Paul R Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Those are beyond amazing. I am sure that the first one got a little frustrated that he could not break the ORS ceiling.
Ferdinand Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 And there appears to be a fourth one, Colonel Filipp Petrovich Onopriyenko (1919-2005), a pilot. Major-General Sitzev Nikolay Gavrilovich His name is Sitsevoi (Ситцевой)

Chuck In Oregon Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 VERY nice post and follow-ups and very interesting. I think the most any Georgian was awarded was four, all were combat (a pilot), and I own that group, ex-Tbilisi Museum of the Revolution. I think I posted it here, sometime in the distant past. According to the ex-director of the museum, he was supposed to get an HSU but Stalin notoriously hated Georgians and denied it, so they gave him a fourth Red Star. Just a story and I can't support it, but I tend to believe it. But SIX? Wow. Chuck
