Monsieur Hulot
Does anyone have information about this tunic, it is very small and has general service buttons. All the information will be greeted with thanks.
Chris Boonzaier
I think there must have been huge amounts of these some years ago. I bought a wonderful Grenadier Guards one from the 1930s.... also with General Service buttons. I assume the proper buttons were removed at some stage. Monsieur Hulot
Ok, but why put on general service buttons, they must have loosened the lining, because they have not fastened the buttons through the fabric.
Paul R
What is the era of this uniform?
Monsieur Hulot
Do not know, I also have a private army service corps uniform dated 1914 with general service buttons. It was probably just the officers who had regimental buttons.
Monsieur Hulot
And I have this, a pattern 1913 private regimental tunic infantry, also with general service buttons.
coldstream
Hello there, I doubt that this is a tunic to the Coldstream Guards, the Garter star on the collar is like nothing I have seen before and there should be embroidered rose emblems on the shoulder straps. The skirt ornamentation is similar and it obviously should have Coldstream buttons. I'm wondering if this is in fact a tunic with connections to the Canadian Guards Regiments? Trooper_D
Does anyone have information about this tunic, it is very small and has general service buttons. All the information will be greeted with thanks. Does it have no labels, inside? In any event, a photo of the inside of the tunic would be most useful.

Trooper_D
Here are the canadians... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/13786-my-collection-of-canadian-guards-uniforms/ http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/40991-canadian-guards-regiments/ Thanks to the links Chris posted to original threads by servicepub, I have to say I stand corrected - and Simon/Coldstream may well be right - the Canadian Governor General's Foot Guards do indeed have their buttons grouped in pairs and have an explicit link with the Coldstream Guards! Monsieur Hulot
So, then this could be a Canadian tunic.
grenadierguardsman
The 1st Tunic is Canadian, Governors General Foot Guards i believe. Or something like that. Andy
