Laurence Strong Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 What is that medal? The Militia Long Service Medal was a long service medal awarded by the United Kingdom. Established by King Edward VII by Army Order No. 211 of 1904, the medal was awarded for 18 years of efficient and irreproachable service in the Militia and attending 15 annual camps. In 1906, it was extended to certain militia forces overseas by Royal Warrant. The medal was superseded by the Efficiency Medal in 1930 Larry

Mervyn Mitton Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Timo - a very fortunate find - well done. Mervyn
Noor Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 ahaaa, I am still broke like a hell (and must every now and then ask money for a beer from my wife:)).This little gem was a bargain and just have to jump on it! Less then 30 awarded to the Dubs ever, so I am not sure can I see them even again on the market (around 1,400 awarded in total shows rarity!!!)
paul wood Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Timo you wife must be very understanding, lovely purchase. Paul
Brian Wolfe Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 That is indeed a nice find, you're a lucky fellow. Regards Brian
Tony Farrell Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 To regiment-specific collectors, finding these Militia long runners - and the equally hard-to-source Special Reserve issue - is a rare occurrence. Well spotted. Please send my condolences to your wallet!
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Less then 30 awarded to the Dubs ever, "efficient and irreproachable service"...... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ...... ;-)
peter monahan Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Ignore Chris. I think there's a reg somewhere that says Legionnnaire's needn't even bother applying for LS &GC awards. As Brian says, you're a lucky man: lucky in your collecting and very lucky in your clever choice of wife! Well done, that man.
