Claudio Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Hi Gordon,Nice one! Here's mine, also a Silver badge.Ciao,ClaudioObverse:
Gordon Williamson Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 Wow!!! Beautiful beast, that one. I guess the recess at the top reverse is so that it could also have had a hinge fitted and be completed in a pinback configuration ?
Claudio Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Thanks Gordon.Yes, I guess so to. Maybe the wearer ordered first this badge and let it transformed in a screwback type of badge by a juweller.Jens has surely some nice things to show.Ciao,Claudio
Les Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Not as nice as the previous two....here's mine. 800 silver marked at the top of the wreath on the back on a raised "box."Les
Les Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Gordon, I don't recall having seen another double-screw back in many years. That's a really graet one to have picked up. Claudio.... nice, very nice!Les
Stogieman Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Les! Is that an applied silver tag w. 800, or actually integral/stamped into the metal itself!?
Les Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Les! Is that an applied silver tag w. 800, or actually integral/stamped into the metal itself!?Rick, Stogie.I had that question in mind when I picked it up of a seller's table. -Applied-. That would have been difficult to stamp with the tag as part of the design.Les
joe campbell Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 two double posts, followed by a single post.first, a black double post.joe
joe campbell Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 second of the double posts, again, a black one.joe
joe campbell Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 finally, a silver single post, one of my favorites.finish is so much richer in hand.obverse.joe
Stogieman Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Les, that wound badge was made by the same maker as this:
Bob Hunter Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 This thread is taking the ubiquitous wound badge to a whole new level! Very nice badges, gentlemen.Stogie, love that 800 Observer!
Gordon Williamson Posted April 2, 2006 Author Posted April 2, 2006 Wonderful pieces ! Just goes to prove that the humble Imperial Wound Badge is definitely vastly under-rated.
Daniel Murphy Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 These have been seen before, but are repeated for our newer members. Plus, I just like 'em.Dan Murphy
Daniel Murphy Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Doesn't look like much from the front. This one was brought back by (later in WW2) Col. Ferguson who was with the 30th Division in both wars. It was still attached to the piece of fieldgray uniform it was cut off of (not shown).
Deruelle Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Beautiful wound badges. Daniel your wound badge is so nice. Just for my information, who realized these badges during the war. Godet, Juncker, etc. Thanks per advanceRegardsChristophe
Daniel Murphy Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Christophe, The problem is every order maker probably produced them, but they failed to mark them except on perhaps the rare occasion. Look at the screwback rayback badge in silver posted above. Not a finer quality badge was produced by anyone, yet the only mark is "Silber". We may never know who made which ones, so we just have to appreciate them for what they are and what they represent.Dan Murphy
