GdC26 Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Does anyone have a scan of/the text of the AKO of 16 November 1916 prescribing the use of gilded silver for imperial German awards formerly made in gold? I would like to check something with a view to a discussion on another forum. Many thanks and kind regards, Sandro
Deruelle Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Hi Sandro Here is copy of OMM 72 Christophe .../... 1
GdC26 Posted February 12, 2021 Author Posted February 12, 2021 Perfect, many, many thanks Christophe. Chris, is this thread not worthy of a pin? This is one of the cornerstones of WWI imperial German order-collecting, in my view. Kind regards, Sandro 1
GdC26 Posted February 13, 2021 Author Posted February 13, 2021 Thanks Chris. And I see I forgot to thank Komtur: many ? !
GMU Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 Wow thank you very much! I saw this before at one time but could not remember where. I have been searching for it for many, many years. thank you!
saschaw Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 Just to be (over-) accurate: This AKO is a Prussian one, signed by Wilhelm II as Prussian king. This is not effecting any other Imperial German states' awards as the states had their change from gold to gilt individually, and it might be interesting to point out not all of them were even war related! While the kingdom of Bavaria was surprisingly close to Prussia, changing their orders from gold to gilt effectively on Jan 1st 1917, the kingdom of Saxony did it as early as 1902(!), and the Grand Duchy of Baden followed in 1910 with orders and in (still pre-war!) 1914 with their golden merit medals. 2
