Deutschritter Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 (edited) I am looking for the promotion dates of General von Richthofen ... any other information, especially WW I decorations other than EK and Pour le Mérite, would be great. Thank you! Edited August 1, 2021 by Deutschritter

Deutschritter Posted August 2, 2021 Author Posted August 2, 2021 That confused me, because he didn't really retire, he became 1908 Kommandeur of the 2. Garde-Kavallerie-Brigade.
Bayern Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 Deutschritter , The retirement ,more precisely go to the Ruhestand Passive situation of Oberst Graf Richtofen took place as consequence of the implication of Generalmajor Graf Kuno von Moltke ,in the Eulenburg _ Harden - Moltke Scandal and trials . once cleared the affaire (more or less ) Your Oberst returned to the Aktive Dienst 1
Deutschritter Posted August 5, 2021 Author Posted August 5, 2021 Does anyone have a better copy of this picture?

Deutschritter Posted August 5, 2021 Author Posted August 5, 2021 (edited) Beautiful, thank you ... this is the first time I can see him with the "Gedenkzeichen für die Königlichen Prinzen, Generaladjutanten und Flügeladjutanten von Kaiser Wilhelm II."!!! ... oh, I can now see he received the swords to his RAO2 with Eichenlaub ... great! Do you happen to know, if he received the HOH? Edited August 5, 2021 by Deutschritter

So he is one of the rare Prussians who got the Iron Cross, the Pour Le Merite but not the HoH? seems a bit weird, you usually see that more with non-Prussians like Erwin Rommel. Kind regards, Laurentius
Daniel Krause Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Not in the Generals ranks. The Hohenzollern knight was the semi official pre pour le merite award up to LtCol. The higher grades of the Hohenzollern for Generals are quite exclusive. They did get Red Eagles and Crwon Orders with swords. Best, Daniel
Deutschritter Posted August 5, 2021 Author Posted August 5, 2021 Thank you, Gentlemen! Daniel, do you happen to know, if von Richthofen received the swords to his Kronenorden, II. Klasse. Maybe even a wartime 1st class?
Daniel Krause Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 Swords to the RAO2 with oaks in 1916 Star with swords to the RAO2 in 1917. No KO1 as far as I know. Best, Daniel 1
