I too know of someone who should qualify for this medal. I'd be curious to see if it's considered a "service medal" or "campaign medal" like you see in most western militaries where the participant is awarded the medal simply by being in the theater of operations. Or is it something that a military commander has to individually recommend for a person to be eligible.

This medal is something like Britain Defence Medal for WWII. If you about civilians I would say your volunteer organization can apply to the Ukrainian embassy or it can be done in Ukraine by some official person or organization with which you cooperate.

What do people think of the odds of NATO and the other allied nations striking a medal for Operation INTERFLEX? Would it be a NATO medal? Or a new medal?

Military-Civil Administration of the city of Avdiivka, Donetsk region "For the defense of the Avdiivka" (За оборону Авдіївки). The fighting for Avdiivka has been going on since 2014 until today.

The medal of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade "For the defense of the Avdiivka".

I think yes.

The badge of the 24th battalion (now it's 24th Separate Assault Battalion "Aidar") "For the support of the Aydar battalion" (За підтримку Батальйону Айдар) established in 2015.

Instituted on 5 August 2022[1] and awarded for self-sacrifice and significant personal contributions to strengthening the defence of Ukraine, the protection of the safety of the population and the interests of the state in connection with the large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

Nice to see a picture of the beast... I have only seen the design drawing in the Decree establishing it.

I can't see anything coming from NATO as it's not involved. Many NATO member states yes but the Organisation itself not.

This medal is rarely received, usually the wounded receive other awards, such as the "Defender of Ukraine" or "For Military Service to Ukraine" medals. Most of the dead are awarded the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd class.
