Deutschritter Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Gentlemen, I am sorry, but I can not identify the EK I (first picture) as 1914 or 1939 ... can anyone help out? Thanks!
Graf Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Looking all the data and and the photo it is more likely 1914 EK1 Also even very faint I can see imperial crown on the top Also looking at his military career it is more likely he got his EK1 during WW1 and his 1939 2nd Class clasp during WW2 as a Police Officer It is interesting no data can be found regarding his awards More research is needed 1
Deutschritter Posted November 23, 2022 Author Posted November 23, 2022 Thanks, Graf! Too bad he was with the police after Grenzschutz Ost, otherwise the Reichswehr Rangliste would have helped out. Here is what I found out about the Feldspange, but I am not an expert: * Eisernes Kreuz, 1914, 2. Klasse * Kriegsverdienstkreuz, 2. Klasse mit Schwertern * Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten * Albrechts-Orden, Ritterkreuz 1. Klasse mit Schwertern * Albrechts-Orden, Ritterkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern * Zivil-Verdienstorden, Ritterkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern * Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer * Wehrmachts-Dienstauszeichnung, 1. und 3. Stufe Supplemental-Officer (15 Oct 1935); Active-Officer (01 Jun 1941); Commander of the 602nd Security-Regiment; Field-Commandant 590 / 732 / 197
Glenn J Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Most definitely a WW1 EK1 as can be seen from this clearer image. He was awarded the clasp to the EK2 on 18 March 1943. Regards Glenn 1
Deutschritter Posted November 23, 2022 Author Posted November 23, 2022 (edited) Glenn, once again, just great ... thank you! Could that be a KVK I. Klasse with Swords underneath? Edited November 23, 2022 by Deutschritter
VtwinVince Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Looks like a KVK. I'm assuming this guy is related to the aforementioned von Hahn? 1

Sorry, I do not know. Von Hahn was from Erfurt, Johannes Hahn from Oberlößnitz near Dresden. Von Hahn may be related to Eichenlaubträger Major Hans Robert Fritz „Assi“ Hahn from Gotha, not far from Erfurt. Edited November 23, 2022 by Deutschritter

Dave Danner Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 Hahn is a rather common name. No reason to believe any of them are related. Also, the 5th ribbon is not the Albrechts-Orden. Johannes Hahn was a Leutnant in IR 103, whose Chef was Großherzog Friedrich II. He received the Ritterkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern of the Großherzoglich Badischer Orden vom Zähringer Löwen on 2.2.1915. For the Landesorden, the ribbon bar precedence appears to be by award date, with the SA3bX followed by the BZ3bX and the SV3bX. 1
Deutschritter Posted November 24, 2022 Author Posted November 24, 2022 (edited) Thank you very much, Gentlemen! I do have one more question, if I may. I read, he was promoted to Leutnant on 18 August 1911, but receiving a Patent from 20 August 1909 (according to Rangliste). Does this imply, he came from the Königlich Sächsisches Kadetten-Korps (Cadet Corps)? Edited November 24, 2022 by Deutschritter

His Patent would have been backdated on account of his being an Abiturient. Regards Glenn 1

Stogieman Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Hey! I used to own that bar! Came from Nieman, there was his personal silverware with the bar, did you get that too?
Deutschritter Posted January 5, 2023 Author Posted January 5, 2023 No, sorry Stogieman, all I have is the picture.
Stogieman Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Well, someone broke the group. When I bought it it was a photo, ribbon bar and monogrammed silver ware. What a shame

What a shame When I picked up the ribbon bar at auction, from the estate of Rick L., the photo and silver ware were already absent. Nice photo by the way, much better than the black and white copy I have. 1
