As a ribbon bar collector I'd agree it's probably an Indian general service medal ribbon, so you a pic of the back?

Given its position it can't be either of these two clasps:

    Northwest Frontier 1908

    Abor 1911-12

    Most likely are:

    Afghanistan NWF 1919

    Mahsud 1919-20

    Waziristan 1919-21

or some combination of these three.

    hello Michael,

from what you are saying , the India GSM would have been worn before the BWM&AVM if it had been awarded first?

    I did not know that… 😊

I once had a group to a man who served in the Boer War, Northwest Frontier 1908, and in the First War from 1914.  Order was QSA, IGS, 1914 Star trio.  Wish I'd kept it.

The most likely answer is Afghanistan, North West Frontier 1919, many poor devils from British units stationed in India at the time of the Armistice had their demob delayed to  to enjoy the delights of the North West Frontier (either baking hot or freezing cold and with  a murderous bunch of locals who lived by the code "My enemy's enemy is my friend".
