ccj Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Your collection is wonderful. I love the CdG and French militaria. I'd love to have a few nice CdG documents. I really need to examine mine for any silver marks.
TacHel Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Stunning! Simply stunning! Congratulations! Looks awesome!
Tunneller Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Just managed to pick this diploma up today. .I already have this design in my collection but couldn`t resist another one
Chris Boonzaier Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Hi, can you post a close up of his citation? Thanks! Chris
ccj Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Another beautiful diploma for the CdG. I think it's 1917 I hope to have a nice framed one in a week or so... All depends on the postal service.

ccj Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Beautiul French citations are very attractive. I should have started collecting them long ago. I fear a fellow named Chris B has nabbed most of the nice German and French citations.... lol
Tunneller Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 (edited) Odulf, Those are beautiful citations. I just picked up this group of citations with a 1915 medal. Edited December 19, 2016 by Tunneller
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Fantastic! have to love these citations! fantastic research possibilities!
Jerry T Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 I have seen advertised on Ebay a WW2 CdG with a blank, completely plain reverse. Is this anything official, or even semi-official? I cannot any other reference to such a model. Thanks for any possible information Jerry
Jerry T Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 I am familiar with the London version as having no date- have one in my collection. But the one I am referring to is totally plain, flat. See listing http://www.ebay.com/itm/142221603043?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Jerry
Stuka f Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Ok, sorry! Can't comment on thise one. But I'll ask.

I once collected all CdG and had one of these in my collection. i was informed by a very knowledgeable French collector that these medals were purely for displaying in frames and were thought not to be official. Jim
Stuka f Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 According to memenbers of a French militaria forum I am helping moderating, there is nothing unusual to it. They are quiet rare but not more expensive then any other WWII CdG. They were probalbly oversea's made examples. Sorry Jim I was absent for a while and just answered without checking the poste.
Jerry T Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Thank you both for your answers. To buy or not to buy, that is the question.........(with apologies to the Bard) Jerry
Tunneller Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Jerry, I think it is worth getting one for completion of a collection purposes. Jim

Jim That is very probable. I have a framed set where a normal CdG was flattened on the back to make it fit well on the frame. I think many, maybe even most Fench Vets after WW1 had a special framed set for the wall as well as their wearing medals.
Mark McM Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 just acquired, a *very* dark bronze example. It's quite aesthetically pleasing, imho.

Tunneller Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 I picked this one up recently. beautifully framed. I have no idea of the year of the medal and won`t be taking the back off to find out.
