    1. Could you please post a close up of the ribbons? I assume it's some German states award, but cannot find any of these for Major Lierau - which doesn't mean much, as I'm not having complete records.
    2. It's not known who "KO" is. It's not the Berlin state mint which has never produced just one EK, nor is it the Stuttgart mint who marked the 1st classes "K.M.ST." and the 2nd classes "K.M."
    3. Greg, I totally agree: As I don't think it's an award case, the (purchased) case was, in my opinion, added to the (awarded) cross.
    4. Neither can I, but I don't think this is an award case. I'd rather think it's a private purchased one. "KO" 1st class crosses are, from what I believe, later war period, so it would not match to be from 1914/15 anyway.
    5. Not navy style. This is a civilian worn tuxedo bar. Could anyway be navy, but more likely Prussian army. I cannot add anything to Rick Research's posting from 2oo9...
    6. I cannot attribute this bar to the mentioned seller from my date base, which of course is not complete. But it does not look like one, and I'd say it's good. Very nice with the Deschler type EK2!
    7. Thanks you! I wish the picture were clearer. I think the sash badge is the Ottoman award he did have, maybe taken in an odd angle.
    8. I' not aware of such a book (at least don't have it), but if you find it... please, let me know! Thanks!
    9. I cannot help, but just one thing: It was usual not to wear old German states active military long service awards with the Wehrmacht DAs, as these did indeed replace the old ones.
    10. KO3 confirmed... great, thank you! Heiko, if your friend wants to get rid of the bar...
    11. I find someone who's close, but apparently not close enough: Major z.D. Rauthe, (1909) kommandiert zur Dienstleistung zum Landwehrbezirk Metz with RAO4, DA, BZ3bE, PGr3. No KO4, which is odd. Odd anyway the BMV4X on this bar. Unless... some of the awards are replaced for higher grades, that were missing? Could someone check between 1909 and 1912 (he isn't listed in 1913 anymore). I could imagine he won a KO3 in the meantime, was reactivated for the war, won a BMV3X... It's just an idea! BZ3bE with PGr3 is just too unusual on a Prussian officers bar. I can hardly imagine there were two with it.
    12. Until now, I did not realize he's been awarded a TM1 accoring the entries. I don't think a TM1 is worn on the neck, so the order on the sash, behind the armrest may be the TM1 - with an additional TM3 worn on the neck?! That's odd! But odder were he's wearing a "big" order unmentioned anywhere. Found him by coincidence, where I had never looked up: Prussian rank list! He was an actual civilian, but "Generalarzt à la suite des Sanitätscorps" and thus mentioned (1909 vol., p. 40).
    13. Saxon rank list with Prussian long service award? I find this to be unlikely. But anyway, I don't think it's a unique combination - at least not the two awards we could confirm.
    14. 402 wearers listed at Roth, Volle gives 395 and Klietmann 502 awards. Be it even a hand full more - these are rare.
    15. The 2nd bar looks way better, I'd say that's a good one. The small golden merit medal on Karl Friedrich ribbon is very rare. is it a real gold or a gilt one?
    16. Actually about 600 awards of this cross on this ribbon between 1915 and 1918. I saw this medal bar as well. I do not find this is a reasonable combination, and when the bar apprared for the first time, some years ago on eBay, it was offered by a seller who's a bar faker in my opinion. I do not like the bar and would not buy it. If I did, I had probably won the auction... sorry!
    17. No idea. But it doesn't seem there ever were any. Should have been eagles and swords, buy the way. The Tunisian order, as officer's grade, is as well missing a rosette. They probably just missed all that out as it's to small.
    18. I actually bought this for re-selling, but once I had it in hand, I could not resist to put it into my collection. It's yet identified, of course, but I don't have the notepad handy.
    19. Here's a framed Baden/France set from circa 1860/70(?), at least the legion of Honour is a pre-1871 type.
    20. I'm with Dave Danner in every point he makes, but think the last ribbon is just what it's is: the Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen!
    21. The order is indeed a bit off. But that's not necessarily a problem. I don't see much, but I do like what I see. If it's for sale somewhere and you don't go for it, would you please drop me a PM? I can't find a wearer, but that's one that should be unique.
