    1. Ahhh... but no Kahle being on the rolls and no Kahle ever having worn one are 2 different things ? As an interesting test, Could you ask him to check out a Prussian in IR47 Kurt (?) Hartmann and a 10er Jäger Johann Schlote? I would be interested to see if all were listed.
    2. Hi, Waldo has some good points. But are we differentiating between War time production and Postwar? I have a set of docs where a soldier wrote to the war ministry to get an award replaced, they wrote back they had none, but there were a number of retailers, medal makers where he could buy a replacement. I am going to go out on a limb here ans say the 1st pic was taken quite some time after the war, probably when he was already in the USA? The instutution of the Marinekreuz was september 1921, so awards from 1922? The Marinekreuz and regt Medal shows a bar padder, which is not bad, I like the proud padder bars. I would imagine in 1920s Hollywood being the exotic ex German soldier, he probably actually wore the bar on may occasions. So depending on the source of the item shown, either a postwar put together with a postwar deschler piece (if they existed) .. or a previous owner/collector exchanged the medals. As to whether he received one... I agree... very unusual... maybe he recieved a 2nd class and he wanted something more blingy... which invites the question... for a medal so rare... where would he have got one?? Very interesting piece and story IMHO! I would say from the 1940s pic and the early one, eyes, nose and caterpillar eyebrows may be a natch... more info here.... https://stereoworld.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/SW_V29_3.pdf Although interestingly enough... the article in the link above has a starnge cooincidence... a man who recognised Kahle for bayonetting him at mons... and the same story, but for Meuse Argonne... so "Americanised"
    3. People scroll through the topics and answer what they want. It is considered bad manners to keep pushing threads to the top due to impatience. If you do so restrict it to one or two important threads but not every long shot you have posted on the forum.
    4. Very nice indeed! 12th Landwehr Division is pretty nice, the sector they were in was an interesting sector. All th ebest Chris
    5. Guess I am gonna need to get that book... wow... would never have guessed that was an issue piece....
    6. I always wonder why the Bavarian's had their buckles made in Saxony ... nice stuff, especially the 182nd!!
    7. I am no expert, but the enamel work looks more industrial modern, the extra metal fluff on the holes have not been removed... it looks like an award made 100% by machine with no human touchups or quality control. Best Chris
    8. Bad finishing, the wire loops look as if they were cut with a blunt leatherman ... is that piece original? ? I do not know enough about US medals to say if that was normal...
    9. Very nice indeed, I agree with Eric, frame cleaned at some point, but that is no big deal.
    10. Nice set indeed!!! Error to my post, the wearere of the straps did indeed have a leiber ring... number 886
    11. Although you often see officers with single claw belts, this particular style was very popular in Bavaria, and especially with Alpenkorps troops...
    12. going through all my pics to see which are keepers and which I no longer need... I found this dedictated photo of our man, looking fine ans martial!!!
    13. That is it in a nutshell... I can look at 100 pairs of straps and 2 will be relevant for me... fact is, if you even see 1 or 2 pairs of fieldgrey straps a week on all sale platforms you are doing well... but to se one of the 3-4 you are really after only happens every few years... and it took me 10 years to find this regiment ?
    14. Thanks Amigo... I just heard a pair sold on ebay for quite a bit less than I paid for these... but having the name means a lot to me.
    15. I think it may have been unique to that sector. Bukarest had a special status and there was a lot of political interaction in 1918, justifying a "geheim-Polizei" as opposed to the feld-Polizei ?
    16. She is used to it by now... no sexy underwear compares to a 105 year old pair of Gamaschen!! Buuuut... here it is... maybe not even the most impressive find of the month... but it took 10 years to find them... they are not even 100% matching, but did belong to one man, an Uffz. decorated with the EK1, but did not get the Leiberring for some reason, I have to check his files... He was Leib Regiment in WW1, then Freikorps, then a LW officer in WW2 ....
