    1. Hi, there are a number of guys in the UK who deal in battlefield relics, try at www.gunstar.co.uk in the ammunition section Best Chris
    2. ^Super group, I agree with Tac, those new ribbons for the star are terrible, I replaced mine wherever I could...
    3. Uh! My fault, I asked Scott to open a thread called Hanseatic EM/NCO bars... I simply did not think at that moment that you cannot tell with these. You are right guys. i edited out a couple of posts relating to title changes and changed the title to fit in with the other "Show yours" threads. Sorry for the mix up. Chris
    4. Thanks, It is an interesting article, but as he says, The 4 women in the Photographs are simply 4 documented cases, he then goes on to mention 2 other women Karoline Bührer and Anna Scheermann who also recieved it. All these cases are simply listed because they were found in newspaper articles. If these 4 pictured woman were simply by coincidence on the same page of the Berliner tagesblatt in January 1915, it is simply a nice page to have found, and not a proof of numbers. A nurse at the front in Russia 1915, caught up in the movement of millions of people may have been a long way from reporters and newspapers. He further goes on to say, that 3 of the 4 women pictured actually were awarded the cross AFTER Wilhelm ii issued the decree forbidding it. As they were awards at the front the Decrees did not filter down as they should. It is mentioned in numerous sources, in fact on the same page in Nimmergut, that the Chef des Militärkabinett spend the whole war chasing down Armee- and General- Kommandos trying to enforce the rules for awarding the EK and that all throughout the war awards were made to people who theoretically should not get one.. Methinks the theme "Woman and the WW1 EK... " is long noch nicht ausgelutscht... I dont only say that because of the photo posted, am not desperately trying to proove it is an EK2... simply think this theme is an interesting one that needs attention...
    5. That is nice indeed... I did not know you could wear the ribboned one and the pinback at the same time. In retrospect I assume it to be logical...
    6. Hi, From the moment German officers packed away their swords in early WW1, and recieved an order to wear something shorter, German blade makers began churning out private purchase piece KS98.... They probably never stopped. The Private purchase ones seldom fit on a rifle. This is one of those, either sold as a dress bayonet with the eagle, or having an eagle added. Maybe someone knows when the maker used to stamp his name like this? Some changed over time how they applied their names?
    7. Well, I think he looks a bit uncomfortable... they look like they are deciding who will hit him first and the guy behind them is looking ready to run!
    8. I guess times were different back then.... but this one would not sell well today....
    9. Very nice, I missed this first time around... it is my Massiges or Suippes there in the area. Best Chris
    10. Hi Peter, but there must surely be men who got an EK2 in WW1, spange EK2 in WW2 then EK1 and RK? There must have been something to cover that? Best Chris
    11. There are some references I have seem to officers getting an award from the Kaiser during the war... but all award documents seem to be post war. Here is my question... The documents are post war? What % of award were made during the war? What % after the war? For some reason i had assumed almost all were postwar, the authority for generals to award medals only becoming possible in WW1? All the best Chris
