I agree 1000%, these wooden bread plates are at basically every flea market in Germany, old ones, new ones, the designs all traditional... I have 2 or 3 in the basement somewhere... They are not bad for a summer breakfast on the patio... but I would be weary about laying out real money on them. Wood has been carved for many years... and still is... and somone making today can do runes more easily than complicated wheat stalks...

About once a year I find these photos and have the need to put out a call to whoever owns the Schmelzer group.... I sold it to an Italian Fallschirmjäger (or something) collector, it was sold by Niemann 6 months later, apparently recieved from a German collector.... THIS is how the group was when I got it from the family.... Whne it was finally sold the only original photo of the guy had been replaced by 10 - 15 Rambo photos, a Dagger and cap had been added, a few of the medals exchanged.... So, anyone owning this and googling, or if you know anyone who owns this.... THIS is how it was.....
