    1. Hi, According to his papers he was finished with the 88 in 1912-13. At mobilisation he was in Trier and came as Vizefeldwebel to the 68 IR, then a Feldbataillon, then his final Regiment. all well documented in diaries and letters. No contact with the 88 any time after mobilization so the helmet covers must have been worn in 1912-13 as well. Here is a pic from March 1913 (unfortunately tiny so this is the best I get....
    2. Hi, a simple pinback. I dont have a pic of the back. best Chris
    3. This must be post war, a stamped badge. Is it a mini version for 1957 or some Bundeswehr prototype? Thanks Chris
    4. Wow, thats kinda specialized !!
    5. Post 2 shows his job as something more than simple man at the counter... Maybe just TOO high for simple service... not!
    6. Hi, welcome. I may be missing something here , but what is an EK Hansen? Best Chris
    7. I guess the bar is as he war it throughout the 1930s and war, sometime he got the Treudienst but never got around to mounting it and then sometime long after the war he went for a studio photo and took everything he had in the drawer to wear for it.
    8. He seems to have been a highly educated man.... it is strange that someone of his civilian position was a simple Obergefreiter... maybe the Luftwaffe was miffed at his attempts to get out of service and made sure he did not become a Sonderf?hrer?
    9. I assume a Swiss or French one? Etanche 60 seems to be water proof to ..60 meters? 60 seconds of rain?
    10. Would the Erkennungsmarke number on page one not indicate that he was in the navy in 1942??
    11. I dont think he can complain to have had it to bad... it smacks of "Hogans Heroes".... :-)
    12. Check out whats new for some obscure stuff :-)
    13. Hi, it is complicated by the fact that "Mixte" regiments were formed with Zouave battalions. Best Chris
    14. Without knowing who it is, I would say this is a typical KIA group. The MM, CdG... and none of the post war commemo's. Best Chris
    15. Could it be for men from the DDR? Just how big IS the mini? I found this Mini for a British Military medal... in French size!! not so long ago... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=27286 Best Chris
    16. Jonatan, welcome!!! Peru is indeed a wonderful place to visit. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Like with many places 1) be careful and 2) dont expect much militaria to bring home. With that in mind you will have a happy stay.
    17. Maybe a syle developed after 1870 and continued uo to and after the outbreak of the war? I think, given the amount of 1870EK1s and how many burgandy cases you see that it is unlikely that there were so many "Extras". Maybe in 1915, or 16 somone said... "Hey, burgandy is like.... soooooooo uncool... lets change the color..." and that was that...
    18. I think it is a nice piece. I have a number of docs that went the same route. Proposed by the regiment, issued by the division... by the time they filter down to the company the guy is wounded, his present address penciled in (Often hospital) and forwarded to him. What a great pity there is not a pass to see where the guy was wounded!
    19. Oooooohhh....... Hardy... that had me wincing... but funny :-)
    20. Hey... when I was a teenager heavy metal fan... we used to say people who wore crosses upside down were Satanists... Whats with this guy??
    21. Well, once I have recovered from my spending spree I will go out and look for one :-) Best Chris
