    1. No photos or details of him in the history. He is also no longer listed in the officers for January 1917. best Chris
    2. I guess it depends on what one finds to be visually pleasing. Of course, as you say, to the guy who gets it the symbolism is most important. I am sure I once saw a CIB style badge with a tank on it? Was that unofficial? So you have a Infantry badge, now a general combat badge with a crossed bayonet and grenade... sounds somehow familiar... do you think the guy who designed it collects German awards
    3. Nice stuff Paul !!! I have seen most of it in the other forums, but seeing it all gathered gives a great overview and gives a good measure of the displayrs intrest in the hobby. Best Chris
    4. Hi, the seller was not shtting you, this did belong to a RK winner. his name was Ernst Petzold and he won the RK as a bomber pilot. Towards the end of the war his unit was retrained as Fighter pilots for the Reichsdefence. Tom Young here on the forum has some photos of him. I had thought you had dissapeared off the face of the earth so I passed them on to him. i will point him here and he can post them. I had the jacket, a few photos and a backpack. The group was split up at some stage and a guy I know is still trying to reunite the documents. best Chris
    5. Are the hooks on from day one or added by a jeweller for the winner? Best Chris
    6. For the record (unfortunately not the photographic one) I used to have a full sized 1870 EK2 with 25 oakleaf, it was a cross that was 100% made during the WW1 era as it corresponded more to the WW1 crosses than the 1870 ones. It was mounted in the same styles as Ralphs mini in post 10, and had the same style of button, obviously for wear on a civilian set of clothes.
    7. I will go against the flow and say, back in my days of TR collecting I always found the Brehmer pieces to be far nicer than the CEJ....
    8. His as well http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3523...650entry32650
    9. Is this a form of pilots wings (Ie, does jeton= wings?) best Chris
    10. I wonder if she was a looker..... (not a topic that often enters the collecting hobby is it ?)
    11. Rickies been at the meth amphetemines again Maybe she was in an escape group ..... "Liz, you sit here... if you see any Germans coming just sing aloud "The postmans trousers are like March violets" in the tune of "Waltzing Matilda"" .... And so Mlle Maron-Nizet sat, ready to sing, at the door of the barn, from 1914 to 18...... Of course, there could be 1000 differet stories of Liz and her poisened Spetznaz umbrella, Stijn is gonna see if some locals can find something... Heres holding thumbs....
    12. Sorry, right you are. I did not realise it was the same text.
    13. Here is a nice pic of the one with the star of David... dont understand the text though... does it say who is entitled to it? http://www.coleccionesmilitares.com/medall...o/marruecos.htm thanks chris
    14. A silly question... I have had half a dozen folks saying they would buy this... Of the top of your heads.. if you were to give it a value... what do you think it would be worth? (Not for sale at the moment)
    15. Hmmmm... printed material that may lead to blindness... sounds like what my mother warned me about when she found some flick mags under my mattress.... I thought that by changing to Militaria I could avoid the risks.....
    16. Hi Kevin, I meant, the musket on the CIB is a timeless design, a traditional kind of thing, if you wore it in 1880 or 2080 even a woman in the street would know what was pictured. For my taste the CAB is to specific, using a grenade that most folks will not recognise as a grenade and a bayonet that I dont think has entered military folklore like the musket on the CIB. I agree that the CAB is needed, but (once again, for my taste) would have held out for a more timeless design. I think the CIB and the combat medic badges succeed design wise, the CAB falls short.
    17. I love these. It seems to me that Prinzen are a real pain in the but. Noone "knows" which are good or not, and most prinzen discussions lead to anything of fine quality being accepted as "good", and anything not of great quality landing in with known fakes. I think it is one of the fields where you just have to accept that a quality piece has a good chance of being original, bt noone can say with 100% certainty. Of course, 1870 Prinzens are even worse !!!!!!
