I think it is "verletzung der u. XXX" I am wondering if this was not a controlled detonation carried out by the Germans and he was injured as opposed to wounded? For some reason I have always thought Verwundung was a wound, and Verletzung an Injury? Best Chris

I see that the Harald Geissler book was re printed in 2011... And with 1 700 photos and 600 plus pages... I will have to wait to next month to get it, but it sounds like a really big deal.... Does anyone have it? How well are WW1 docs covered? Thanks Chris

Hi, thats pretty cool, but I think there is a bit of an error... you are thinking of Percy SLedge... ;-) Here is a question, does the fact that a soldier is African American influence the price? I paid over market for a WW1 African American Purple heart, but I think the Ration of Caucasian/African American has cahnged a lot since WW1, probably making them more comman. Best Chris

What is the armour triangle on the front of the tunic of the guy on the right? I thought those were arm patches. MfG Chris

Hi, it was often done to make souvenier belts ("Hate" belts). Soldiers put bottons and badges all over them. In this case they have been removed again. Best Chris

Unless you really, really, really need one to that unit, I would pass. A wise collector once posted.... if it is a Blue tunic, and not mint, mint... it is not worth buying. It is a lesson I learned the hard way.... but I learned it. You can find pleanty in better condition, and not costing much more. Best Chris

Hi, There is also a 14-18 Black ribbon one for "für Kriegsverdienst in der Heimat" White ribbon seems to be exclusively for Civilians/officials/Medical in the Heimat, or the occasioanl soldier in stores, or people attached to the military. Black ribbon "für Kriegsverdienst in der Heimat" for soldiers/officers. But I have not found any statute for the latter. Best Chris
