Fritz, the example your Gold came in is the more common catch you find on these. These catches can also be found on the likes of the Honour Goblet case too (out of interest) Thanks Gordon, I like that, I like that alot !!! I love it having the whole '2nd' logo like that on the button !! And the special little case too !

The first pic of the red recess base case is for a KVK 2, blue bases in the exact form are for EK 2 and this is generally accepted as such. Kr Marcus

Kriegsmarine Cased U-Boat Spange
Marcus H replied to Stan's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards
Thanks Stan, I'll get back to this case, it's very interesting and a some what revelation in terms !! All I can say is the outer covering is NOT the very very convincing Luft fake outer covering and there is one that is near perfect ! Kr Marcus -
Kriegsmarine Cased U-Boat Spange
Marcus H replied to Stan's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards
Interesting, I've never seen a 'case' for one Stan, I'm only aware of the plain 'generic' cardboard boxes and not even the packets either !! I'd be interested to see more Stan of the case without the badge in it if possible and anyone whom has a packet or pic of one too. Kr Marcus -
Italy - Orders, Decorations and Medals
Marcus H replied to Hendrik's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
And these three too. I don't know if the 11th Army medal is even genuine any more ??? It's been a long time since I've even looked at these. The 'tomb' guards medal is a latter version also. -

I don't have many Italian medals left now and only have this poor mans offering, all common medals and nothing special. -
Heer GAB "W"
Marcus H replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards
Nice one Micha, A lovely example in tombak; I have seen the zinc ones from time to time - which have normally sold of course ! I'd say in my novice opinion that for the Wurster GAB that indeed the tombak is harder to attain and personally I'd prefer this to a zinc for the collection. Keep it with the grouping though won't you. Kr Marcus -
EK 1939 EK 2 un-marked Juncker
Marcus H replied to RICK SCHMID's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
To be honest with you there's alot of W&L thought and debate thus notions - I personally just don't know in all honesty. I wouldn't say that a Juncker is only a Juncker when it looks like a W&L, a little provincial that: is this core and frame or one or the other ? However, I do accept there does seem to be a less than broad relationship in the guise of some of these crosses. What about the thought the K&Q relationship ? I'll tell you why: my example of an L/12 EK2 doesn't prescribe to a W&L, it's on a court mounted bar and stamped on the frame, nor does my outer cartoned (marked Juncker) and cased EK1 look like a W&L EK1 - all the examples found with outer carton look like my L/12 pin back EK1. But, I do have a screwback EK1 which would prescribe to a W&L cross. Can any of the W&L advocates expose their thoughts to this determination perhaps ? Kr Marcus -

Im afraid Larry is correct, that is NO GWL GAB. GWL GAB's have a distinctive cut outs between the wings and the swas and there is no known solid backed GAB by this maker at all. Here are mine. -
EK 1939 Green case for 1939 EK1!
Marcus H replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Well these green cases are certainly less often encountered but as for rare........no, not really in the literal sense; you can find them but they are few and far between to purchase, but I know of many in collections of course (well into the double figures) Not splitting hairs, but the term rare for an EK 1 case only really would summount to a few versions at that, in my opinion of course (not including private purchase elaborations). There are variations of more common Ldo marked sorts and the 'generic' style EK cases that are even less frequently observed than the green cases - going into specific's of base, liner etc and the combinations we find (namely the materials used really) Zimmermann - does prevail in the green case stakes and a couple at that do indeed have outer cartons with them: marked Zimmerman. Hi Beertje, Good luck with the bidding !!! If you win, please do post it of course, I'd love to see this example too. Kr Marcus
