To me it looks alright, Nice and undamaged, the type of the "burgundy cross", which is the green enamelled cross, appears to be somewhat colonial-era to me, thus indeed pre-war. I think it was just a matter of wanting to wear them ALL!! ?nd SHOW them all, thus no overlapping of the medals, all of them should be mounted almost individual!! Just something he liked, perhaps to fancy / impress the ladies!

Yes, concerning the crosses and crowns themselves, in Belgium, people get a certificate and have to buy their own decorations, which are for sale at jewellers!! in rough lines, they are all the same, but small differences happen to occur. About the ribbon, if you could peer carefully below the palm or on the inside of the folded ribbon, you will see the true colour, I'm inclined to say that the right ribbon is faded.

That would be a though question, The point is that the crosses are the same. Without ribbon, one has to take the word of the buyer that it is a grand cross or a commander's cross, but value-wise both are worth the same! It's mainly the ribbon which determines the price as a sash for the GC is expensiver than the commanders cr?vatte. Kind regards, Jacky

Hi Roeland, I'm still thinking about this one... the major points would be; - centenial medal - french Croix d'guerre - 8 front stripes perhaps that the croix d'guerre might help, but I wouldn't account to much on that one. I have seen pictures of officers wearing less palmes than they are allowed to, even counting gold for 25, silver for 5 bronze, thus when someone would have been allowed to wear 13 palmes, I would expect 5 palmes, 2 silver and 3 bronze. Also is nearly everything from WW1, except the WW2 commemorative medal on the far right. Another little voice in my head says that the grandcross might be a commander..... Which would support a quite low-ranking general.... Will keep looking and trying to contact them. Kind regards, Jacky

Hello Kevin, Wonderfull decorations, what does one have to imply with the "for manhood and loyalty"? i.e. long service in medical business, hospitals? Or also humanitarian help and Red Cross - service? They look quite good, would love to see the pictures when they are minted and handed out. However, concerning your roseta (rosette), strictly speaking a rosette is a emblem for wearing just to denote that the person had been decorated with a certain decoration. Thus it's not necessarily that it has a rosette. the main restriction is that it should be small enough for wearing on any quasi-formal clothes when miniatures or full size medals aren't appropriate. Just looks like the king had suffered from small pox Indeed, these "pits" are a very very clear sign that this medal was cast and just has to be avoided, except when one is in need of a ribbon, but still.. Then one should only pay for the ribbon, not for the whole sh*t

Thanks Kevin for showing your medals and teach us another lesson on the romanian medals. It's quite a strange medal as it was awarded to the Allied forces in WW1 ?nd to the Germans in WW2. Very very nice, it appears that there aren't even scratches from tinkling the EK against the verdienstmedal!! Might be a sign that this bar was hardly worn, as this construct makes the medals tinkling against each other, often orders have damaged enamel where the medals hit each other. But this is indeed nice and crispy, perhaps even juicy with the pictures Sounds like dinner, although it's breakfast for me now Very very very nice group, surely together with the pictures
