    1. I've heard that there were support staff and individuals in the Indian and Burman side of Gov. that received the medals as well, In terms of our own citizens that attained it, probably 500 is better term but in total I know that a couple sources state that there were 800+ awarded in total.
    2. The ribbon is incorrect I'm 99% sure. The actual ribbon should be Christmas color, ie Green then white stripe then red and repeating. I will check another couple sources, it is what it is if it is incorrect ribbon You can't really do much about it now. Although I would recommend keeping it in this condition. The main issue with it is that we don't know a lot about the medal itself and only around 1,200 were produced as Paja indicated. It could be a trail piece or "prototype" so I wouldn't touch it just yet Do you see any hallmarks on it?
    3. Hello Ivan, Thank you so much for the find It Definatley looks like Prince Iesato Tokugawa Prince Yorihito also received the Order of the White Eagle Grand Cross. P.S. Here is another same source '>
    4. He doesn't look 79 or is that just my impression Man, I wish I age that well when I grow up :)
    5. How evil is this price raise, don't worry things come back in terms of Karma just wait until I have that pottery set or rare garden hose they are after!
    6. What a fantastic grouping Do you know where he was stationed in Korea?
    7. Check the 2nd page, almost the exact same order/medal just much thinner and with enamel, maybe from an earlier time period?
    8. Amazing really awesome, thank you so much for posting additional pictures
    9. 1st looks like a version of the Wissam al-Arch The Order of the Throne, they use the Morroccan Star in a couple orders so it is hard to tell but it sure looks like it, I'll search some more second looks like Order of Military Merit of Morocco
    10. I like the "run over by a tank" wound badge looks like amber
    11. Does it say Sokolo and or Socko on the button ? I can't read what it makes out on the button If it is Sokolo we used to have motorcycle and pilot helmets in Yugoslavia from that producer.
    12. At this point, if I were you, I'd take up knitting class and make the sash/neck ribbons etc yourself That's how crazy happy I'd be if I added these to my collection hehehehe :)
    13. The whole black part seems re-done. you can't get a uniform finish without slathering on some new stuff
    14. Even guys with excellent feedback need to be informed if something is too good to be true. Everyone on ebay have excellent feedback now a days anyway :D
    15. I always break down and asses the situation when trying to buy something, yes there is an aspect of risk in every purchase and there are "perfect" fakes out there. I'm always open to both suggestions in collecting, but in this situation it is different, the item is being advertised (without reading the description) as the map itself that was used in this post battle briefing, as we all too often know in collecting a copy or something that wasn't used somewhere doesn't demand as much financial or historical value as something that was. Copies of the Declaration of Independence don't command as much esteem, value or historical significance as the original. In this situation if I break it down into other words it would be like a famous wizard book writer selling her napkins that she wrote her book on about a young wizarding boy that survived immense turmoil (and has a lighting bolt on top of his forhead, you know the one) If for example an auction house added "May or May not be the napkins *insert author* wrote her book on" and these napkins had additional additions to them ie German translation of the text on them.... She owned them at one time, but passed them on to *insert other famous author* when it finally got down the line to the auction house. Would we automatically assume that these were the exact ones that she wrote the book on, or would we try to do research and figure out how these were given away. I don't think anyone is trying to prove or disprove this is the map (especially by the sentence statement from Christies that gives it a 50/50 vibe), just put forth questions, none of us can really answer these questions on authenticity, it is up to whoever is selling to do it, to convince one person or another that is interested in this listing to either buy, or avoid the listing. I'm just surprised as I was stating in my initial questions, for this amount of money, is this provenance enough for a sale, for someone to consider the item legitimate for what it is being sold and represented as. Christies and Sothebys have had their fair share of fake incidents in the past (The $$$ vintage wine fakes, The 2 Greek Paintings etc) I think a lot of fakes can run around in an auction house, it is just dependant on what they do AFTER they sell a piece and it is found to be fake, if the buyer isn't satisfied and experts on a specific field in question deem it to be fake, there should be an option to return a piece. It is up the collector to do due diligence on the item you are purchasing, in the end you aren't buying the auction house, you're buying the item that is being sold within it, Whether someone believes it to be a fake item only matters to the buyer of interest. Once it is established to their satisfaction then they will either buy or avoid the item.
    16. It belonged to these people, it doesn't mean it was used in the briefing, at least they are letting the buyer know where it originated from I agree with that etc but its still a lotto , you could have Royals own something and for that item not to be involved in any actions. "This map or a photographic enlargement of it was employed in Fuchida's briefing of the Emperor on December 26, 1941." Its still a risk on that^ being that it could be the original that someone used for the briefing, to me it would mean more if it was the actual item used for the briefing, especially at the price point I was wondering if we have professionals who could analyze any available photos of the map from the briefing and make a determination via that route?
    17. Its just giving a collector false hope. You are still playing the lotto with this statement: This map or a photographic enlargement of it was employed in Fuchida's briefing of the Emperor on December 26, 1941." If it wasn't used in the briefing it is just a archival document that does have significance but not for the reasons employed in the title itself used for selling this item. It would be like...buying a Confederate sword and then saying "this may or may not have been used by General So and So because it is his favorite brand of sword" While true, it is a huge no, no for me at least, if you can't prove where it was used then you can not use such a direct title to sell a product. In case people like the unknown and are willing to jump at something I have a slightly used plastic spoon that may or may not have been used by General So and So. :D I find it funny if someone on ebay posted something similar we would all laugh, yet a big auction house can get away with using such terms :D
    18. ok so, the medal variant I have is from the Austrian (Vienna) authorized producer itself? Is there a photo of the proper box that I should search ebay for Now that I know! :)
