    1. Guys, I have just done a basic google by image for 'Kreigsmarine car pennant', it throws up a lot of other arms too and it is interesting that the Luftwaffe eagle seems to do the same thing, ie it is looking forward in the direction of travel? There are others on there that don't, like the DDAC or the police? Jock:)
    2. Tony, I might have a pop at it next summer, I suppose it is the closest I will get to owning a German Military vehicle! Jock:)
    3. What can you say to all of those silent spectators?
    4. Are these then like the WHW type stuff worn at fund raising events etc? Jock:)
    5. I am looking at the tags when you post, it offers certian options of which Niedersachen is not one, I thought maybe back then it came under another larger area of responsibility? Just trying to help the search engines. Jock:)
    6. Can say I have never seen a Luftschutz one thanks for showing! Jock:)
    7. Guys, Song book for the local arty mob here in the Celle area, which prefix would that be by the way is it Saxony? since Niedersachsen is not an option? Cheers Jock:)
    8. I wish there was "smelly vision"! Must have been amazing!
    9. Thats interesting because if you look at the next page in the reference and the (period)picture at the bottom of p316 between 3 pages they seem to be looking in both directions, maybe they knew something was coming? Or perhaps it is to do with the way the penant is flying? Jock:)
    10. Odulf, That is something I never thought about as you see both sorts of picture around a lot, so he is an 'Apple' man (this may make you chuckle: http://www.epicrapbattlesofhistory.com/video/O80KPLVeUEoc/category/all/tag/all/section/most_viewed_episode/page/0). It is the same guy, so safe to say 1911 +. I have a few more bits from that group but it overlaps Weimar and KM, should I add them here as part of the story so to speak? Jock:)
    11. Tony, In picture 2 directly under the seat mount on the frame running verticaly is a serial number I suppose, I haven't really looked it over, I have stuck it in the cellar as the weather is closing in over here. I will add it to the summer things to do list. Jock:)
    12. I thought something tucked into his gaiters but perhaps your right, maybe he invented 'Lycra', LOL. Jock:)
    13. I am looking at Uniforms and Traditions of the KM, volume 3 p314, at the bottom is a schematic of veh penant sizes. I have done the maths from the sketch and if it is 330mm in lengnth represented by roughly 55mm in the picture that would make the eagle in the picture roughly 15cm and a bit? Give or take since the other pic is 350mm so there must have been a bit of variation between different manufacturers? A possability? Jock:)
    14. Thats 185mm or 18.5cm by 75mm or 7.5cm, not even a German Genaral has a chest that big surely except on comedy sketches? Do you mean 85mil?
    15. Please see as directed Sports docs from KM Admiral-Scheer School. Jock:)
    16. Makes sense, left to right 1911, 1914 & undated. The jacket he wears inthe centre looks more like a clergical type thing or is this a normal lenght and cut for an overcoat/mantle? Thanks for the steer. Jock:)
    17. Kind of reminds me of the sort of eagle on a vehicle penant for a commander as such? Without the rest the context is lost. Jock:)
    18. anything is possible, I can't see any more than you guys, probably less!
    19. Found another, they look posh all of them and sadly no date. The microscope has been no help today! Jock:)
    20. Guys, These are good quality pictures of a young officer spanning 1911 -1914, one is not dated. Nick, you could probably do with a marine Topic tag and prefix or have I missed the correct area? Jock:)
    21. I agree with you, what do you have 'buckshee' to swap from TR? Jock:)
    22. Don't know Chris thought it may be shorts as he looks bare legged, perhaps 'airing his tackle' during a lull? Looks like the skirt of his jacket on the left.
    23. Well I guess it makes sense then from a recruitment point of view, not everyone had access to the coast. Perhaps not that unusual after all.
