I’m not sure what is sad about it. That’s a nice, rare, original tunic that was among other Bavarian uniforms for a GeneralLt. One was 1910, one pre ware blue drew uniform, and this Litewka. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get all but was lucky to get the litewka and later another generals uniform to another man.

I don’t think Ludwig III was awarded the EK2 or EKI prior to WWI. I think he was alway “awarded the Max-Joseph during WWI as well. I may be wrong…

Think have more Castell- Castell photos to the King’s left and behind several paces Another Castell to the King’s right and in full pre war dress uniform And on the far left is, I think, Castell in the field with the King.

What’s the history on this award? I’ve seen some on eBay but thought they were make believe -
Yours are very nice, I especially like the first set. Very stylized. I notice many, many variations of Bavarian general’s tabs and also variations on application to the tunic, ie, upside down, backward, right side, etc. Gives one a lot to study in period photos.

Very nice display… that’s a lovely tunic. I leather feldbinde would be more appropriate though it’s possible you could find a photo of this style in use with bluse, idk. here’s my Baden Dragoon with leather belt. Buckle is that for Baden/Oldenburg
