Bairische Dialekte Hilfe!
HeikoGrusdat replied to IrishGunner's topic in Deutsche Kaiserreich: Man spricht Denglish
I think that there are some meanings for the word fretter..... Geizhals too but also "armer Kerl" oder "armer Schlucker".... I thought that the version with the poor guy would fit better here -
Bairische Dialekte Hilfe!

Wenn mein Vater der König wär , und der Kaiser mein Patenonkel , wär ich dann der arme Kerl , der ich jetzt bin - nein Free translated : If my father would be the king and the emperor my godfather , would I be the poor guy I am now - No I think they wants to say that they are poor guys with poor food , look at the apples , and the high people like kings are living good while they do not at the front..... very critical card if I understand right -
yes it is a prussian 9 year long service medal....no problem with the bar and no problem with the combination....it was not a guy from Mecklenburg , he just got a Mecklenburg award during the war (maybe fightig with a Mecklenburg unit for some time or a Mecklenburg leader visited his unit and brought some gifts.... ) the only thing that jumps in the eye is that the Mecklenburg ribbon is much more bleached out than the other ribbons but that happens sometimes because of different ribbon types or colours

Both bars , the ribbon bar and the medal bar , are no unique combinations.... only with a Name from Awards docs or something like that you can be 100% safe who you have there.....on the ribbon bar where you have no more "help" it can be everything , a MVK 3. class for exemple...what DA the blue ribbon is for - can be 9y , 12y, 15y or maybe Landwehr...who knows BUT what makes me feel that you have really two bars of ONE guy is the Point that on his original medal bar (bevor the Addition of the 25y ca. 1938) he has the DSWA-medal mounted on last Position on exact the same place as on the ribbon bar although it was a combattant Award that normally should place on Position 2 or 3 !!! The 25cross is added to the existing bar so both the medal and the ribbon bar with the matching Awards were made after getting the Hindy ca. 1935 with the same order of Awards. Just a guess....but I would give you two a

EK 1914 EK Document, as high as it gets....
HeikoGrusdat replied to Chris Boonzaier's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Haha cool.... now it`s Chris part to give his document to you Karsten because you have more -
Hello all, has anyone some Information about Oberstleutnant a.D. Willy (Wilhelm?) Stetter ? Started ww1 as Hauptmann in IR44 with RAO4 , got EK2 early in 1914... later commander of RIR211. Any Information about ww1 awards or other commands between the two known regiments would help.... thank you all Heiko

The time range of this bar is 15 years minimum from 1901 to ww1 and this man must have been in at least two different colonial campaigns because the colonial medal is not for China , so if this is a prussian Long Service ribbon at the end there should be one ore two more prussian orders on the bar but there is nothing. If it was a saxon guy there should be a saxon Long Service Award instead of the prussian. No.2 could be a order from Finland , but I know them only with other devices , not with crown. For me the whole combination of the here seen 8 ribbons still makes no sense....

OK....back from the paperjungle.... what I can add so far are the Award Dates from ww1 : EK2 19.5.1916 and EK1 26.5.1918 He was involved in both seabattles , at the Skagerrak and at the Doggerbank , and he survived when his Torpedoboot G9 sunk !!! Then I have his personal "Personalbogen" filled out from his widow after the war and there is clearly written : " gefallen am 29.1.1945 " !!! So, either the book or the widow is wrong.... Awards from ww2 are written there : clasps for EK2 and EK1 and German cross in Gold......... now I have one photo (have to dig it out again...) where he is wearing a badge what I think is the Minensucher Kriegsabzeichen...but that is not written in the list. A lot of work still to do.....
