    1. I have had the same question. All of my references state the same as you wrote. I am thinking it to be more of an achievement/excellence award than a qualification badge. Believe it or not, these are not easy to find on tunics(with original placement). I love your bullion examples!! Paul
    2. Congratulations on your score. You are right about Ebay!! I just picked up a nice Luftwaffe Admin tunic for an even 400 dollars last month! There are lots of great things on there from time to time! Are there any insignia on your cap?
    3. Thank you, Xavier, for your help here. Hey Kev, lets cut the man a bit of slack. You are right about detailed answers being most helpful but with Xavier being from France, maybe his English is not as good as ours. He clearly has a level of expertise beyond anyone who has posted in this thread thus far. Regards Paul
    4. Thanks Bob, Here are some more photos, now that I have time to set it up...
    5. I dont know what kind of information can be drawn from those photos. Either the images are too far away or the quality is off. Can you make the ranking details on the dark photo bigger? In that last photo, I think I can see a HJ Trumpet Banner on the left of the formation of WH Men. Behind them looks to be a formation of SA men. The top photo seems to be pre war, as there are no qualification badges and the men look to be older WW1 Vets/Career officers. The man second to the Right seems to have a Crusher hat on.
    6. What if the member worked to 40 years? Would they have the Hero star, or repeat Lenins?
    7. Other than the combinations, what points make these bars come from the same source(Austrian faker)?
    8. I agree!! This grouping is very difficult to beat!! Were you able get any stories from him? I would be interested in knowing his aspect of the Israeli War. As a side note, can you cut the photos down about 1/3 the size you are posting? It would make viewing more pleasurable. regards Paul
    9. And a board. I would like to hear your thoughts. Any comments or theories are welcome!
    10. Perhaps they are for a Sonderfuhrer-G! (Feldwebel) Check out this photo from Vol 1 of Brian Davis' "Uniforms and Insignia of the Luftwaffe Vol 1: 1933-1940". Notice the tabs!!
    11. I have always known these tabs to be for "early an Admin NCO", to go with the early regular LW style NCO straps piped in Dark Green. Despite my study into the various LW Officials, I have not been able to find these documented as such either in writing or photo. Looking through my books, a light bulb snapped into my head.
    12. But the crash had to be a direct result of enemy action... right?
    13. Most likely the closest I will ever get to seeing a completed uniform...
    14. Per Uniforms and Traditions of the Luftwaffe, Vol 1, page 579-580: There were two divisions of the Home Defense AntiAircraft Artillery 1. Home Flak Batteries 2. Alarm Flak Batteries These men seem to be members of the "Home Flak Batteries". This organization consisted of civilian personnel. Men eligible were born between the years of 1883 and 1925. Many members were either unfit for military duties or worked in critical civilian jobs. These men were issued the LW fliegerbluse, collar liner, long trousers, greatcoat, lace up boots, a one piece protective suit, and an ID tag. The fliegerbluse and greatcoat were both void of any insignia and shoulder straps. These uniforms had to be from used stocks. The "Deutche Wehrmacht" or "Deutche Luftwaffe" was to be worn on the upper left sleeve. Just for reference, the Alarm Flak Batteries were manned completely by Heer, Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe, or SS crews assigned to Homefront billets. All members and officials up to and including the rank of Major were obligated to duty. These men wore their uniforms(even officials) with a protective suit and helmet. It was common to have AAA Crews that consisted solely of officers and officials! The photos look like they are in some sort of training environment.
    15. Congrats Bill! The ORB of Labor is a very attractive piece. I love that blue enamel.
    16. Absolutely horrible. The medals are getting worse and worse in both quality and design.
    17. As usual, I am looking for anything pertinent to the Luftwaffe Disciplinary Units. This can be uniforms, insignia, documents, or photos. Anything relevant!! The above data comes mostly from Uniforms and Traditions of the Luftwaffe, Vol 1(By Angolia).
    18. You did very well with that one!! The decal is one of the best I have seen!
    19. Mystery solved!! Luftwaffe Disciplinary Units http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=23337&hl=
