    1. Claudius, my assumption is that grey was used for everyday/field use because it is easier to camoflage than bright orange! It would stink to be in the field, trying to conceal myself wearing a bright orange hat.
    2. Hey Eric, There are also some with the eagles embroidered in that manner. It is not so much that the sutures are straight up and down... the quality of them is irregular and sloppy. Also there is a variation on the spacing between the eagles. There is no other way to explain it... I have seen identical techniques and materials used on tabs that were sold in bulk as reproduction. Regards Paul
    3. I cannot access Ebay, as I am underway on a military vessel for the next few months and Ebay is not allowed to be accessed from government computers. Just search ebay for LW collar tabs and you will see many of them being sold as reproductions in various waffenfarbe. Just look at the details I outlined above and you will see.
    4. I agree with that. Does the British Army still award wound stripes, at least?
    5. Congrats on your new set! The enameled Austrian medals add a lot of life to these bars.
    6. It looks like it is... I really think that they did a great job on this award, although it's application seems to be limited to military deaths due to terrorism. I really like the look!
    7. i dont know why I did not see this beauty before!! I love it. You are right... they should all be pristine like this one! Can we see the other side, as well as the liner?
    8. Can you please post an image of the reverse?
    9. This is my first time seeing this thread! I am totally amazed! You have more SHUMA than anyone I have ever seen. You should do a book on the topic!
    10. That is a great photo. It is a great assortment of internal defense personnel!
    11. That is a very nice board. It is either a Luftwaffe Supplimental Medical Officer board, a Heer Reserve Medical Officer board(for a waffenrock), or a Landswehr medical officer. The thing that has me confused is the use of the silver toned pips. In Vol I of Uniforms and Traditions of the German Army, page 363, it states that Landwehr units utilized teh Heer Reserve insignia, but used silver metallic fixtures. I am confused because the serpent is in gold toned metal. Perhaps the pips were once gold tone and the finish faded? I love it.
    12. Hi Eric, I have serious concerns over these tabs. I am sorry to say, but they match 100% the styles known as reproductions I have seen on Ebay. The following features are what I am noting: 1. Same poor technique used in embroidering the eagles. 2. The badge cloth is very course and of poor quality 3. Large diminsions of the tab itself. I am sorry for my suspicions and bad news. Paul
    13. Here is mine... It is for a reserve medical officer retiree(passants). Does yours look similar to this? PAul
    14. Sounds to me like an Army Stabsartz, Reservist(Or Luftwaffe Supplimental Medical Officer). I am very happy to see a photo, when you can get your equipment to get along!
    15. Absolutely beautiful!!! BTW, I love the IDMT badge(Level 5, right?) in your avatar!
    16. I agree! That is a very interesting point. Somewhere out there, there are plenty of real photos... It is irritating that such a modern organization has so few photo documentation. Heck, their vets are my age! There have to be plenty of vets still have their tunics and photos. I am surprised that there is no photographic documentation of this formation.
    17. All you need now is an officer's visor!! Great collection of caps.
    18. Your collection is something to strive for! I love the NCO tunics! Awesome job!
    19. Sorry for the ZAV post, but this is a very interesting topic! I look forward to seeing further contributions! Was it typical to have no chest eagle added? Were they marked once captured?
    20. Yeah!! VERY lucky! Was it damaged or something? Congrats on a great score!
