Yes they are very awsome weapons. A long time ago had a blond one, it shot well. The look of a k43 is hard to explain. They are so pretty they are ugly? Does that make since? byf
The AK is a true work horse. Some time back I traded for an AKMS. It was the Egyptian model. It shot real fast and was a real blast with the 75 round drum. But, when trying to hit a head sized target off hand at 200 meters I could not do it. With any other rifle I can.(Its' not bragging if you can do it.) One time with my Kar 98k off a bench rest I hit a Stanley thermous at 400 meters. So I got rid of the AKMS. The bore looked good, so I don't know what it's problem was. They sure do look cool. Anyway that is my 2 Pfennigs. byf
Hi Ronny, Sounds like you are doing pretty well. Over here we have public land where we can hunt, fish, shoot, what ever we want as long as we don't make a mess or burn it down. There are many huge private timber companys that let us on their land as well. Do you collect any other German militaria? Thanks. byf
Ronny, Thanks for the info. I bet the government has a nice little fee for those permits, can you go out in the woods and shoot or only at the range? By the way, you have a very good comand of English. Don't put yourself down. Keep up the good posts. Prost! byf
Ronny, My man, yet another byf. How sweet. That is a real looker. Do you need permits for those weapons over there? They sure do shoot well. I think the Kar 98k is the classic military rifle. None can top it. Thanks for the great post. byf
I saw the gold bar like ten years ago at a gun show. The guy who had it was rather strange. It was not for sale, just for show. It sure was pretty. He mainly dealt in ordnance and exotic ammo. I would think the value would be higher than the weight with historical value added. Who knows where the Krauts got the gold to make it. Thanks. byf
Hi Ronny, So you have a byf P 08? What year? I used to have a DWM 1916. I ended up getting rid of it. The Luger is such great old weapon, the classic German gun. I did not think you could have hand guns in Sweden. Do you need a permit? Yes collecting German stuff is an addiction. A fun one. byf
You have a great deal of knowledge on this topic. My 5 Mark piece has the A mint mark, 1936, where was that mint? I had always wondered about German gold coins. I did get to see a Nazi marked gold bar once. It was about 4"x 1.5"x .5" with a nice eagle stamped on it. I don't know what it was worth. It was cool. Thanks. byf
Too bad but my nearest friends with cameras are 70 and 112 miles away, so they don't visit too often. I don't think I want my neighbors to see my War Room. They might not understand. Know what I mean? byf
Ok Lach470 let me see if I can paint a word picture for you. One of my favorite Helms(i love them all), it is an M42 Heer, ET 62, run#1707, with Normandie 3 color spray cammo 95%. Nice chin strap, the liner is a bit crisp, 2 torn fingers. On the rim lightly scratched in by GI? Oct 1944. It is one sweet unit. Some day I will figure out how to post pics. Thanks. byf
Yes they sure make a good conversation piece. Now you have a whole new list of stuff to find. Ammo cans, gunners pouch, belts, AA sight. Cool that you have slings. I could never find one for mine. I traded it all away last year. It worked out ok. byf
I know a bit about Helms, I have 9 German pots. I don't have a camera and have to use other's when they visit. Then my problem is re-sizing them and getting them to attach to the post. I am a T-Rex with this computer stuff. Plus being addicted to collecting I buy more German stuff instead of a camera. Know what I mean?? Take care. byf
