    1. Thanks Les, that's good advice. I actually have a jeweler who does repairs for me, so I'll take it to him. The other sword hilt is present, so that should help.
    2. Gentlemen, I have a Crown Order 2nd Class with Swords, and it looks like it was run over by a tank. One of the sword hilts is missing, so I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for replacement. I was thinking of getting a cheap Goede replacement for it, but am open to all suggestions.
    3. I don't like the crown either, and as you point out, the hardware is not right. Close, but no cigar.
    4. Thanks Sascha, that's the one I thought it was. I bought the document because it was awarded to an Oberstabsarzt a. D.
    5. Interesting spange, but at first glance I would not have guessed that to be a Godet construction.
    6. A very brave and principled man, right up there with others such as Martin Niemoeller.
    7. Chris, I was bidding on some of these docs, as were probably a few others here. I only managed to get one photo, and got sniped on several documents from Prussia. It was the most incredible grouping I've seen in years. Unfortunately, it is now scattered to the winds, a real shame considering the extreme historical significance of these items.
    8. Nice ones, eitze, and I agree with you about the Hessen-Kassel medal. I just picked one up, and they are great looking.
    9. White stripes on EK ribbon look too narrow, and the wrapping of the ribbons seems strange as well.
    10. You're right, Heiko, but the bar is absolutely genuine, no question. Obviously a very patriotic Hoflackei.
    11. Thanks, Seeheld. If you like I can send you scans and you can post them for me.
    12. Very nice Beobachterabzeichen, typical wartime example. And the dog tags are of second war pattern, the ones from the first war are smaller.
    13. I recently acquired an interesting spange from a member of the 'other website'. I'm familiar with all the medals except one. Unfortunately I can't post photos, but the bar consists of 1914 EK2, Hindenburg Cross with Swords (neatly slotted in to replace previous Honor Legion Medal), Prussian General Honor Decoration, Hohenzollern Silver Merit Medal, the unknown medal which I think is a Mecklenburg Silver Merit Medal (on light blue ribbon), Brunswick Silver Merit Medal, Saxon-Altenburg Silver Merit Medal and Russian Medal for Zeal. So far I haven't been able to find an image of the Mecklenburg medal, only one with bearded portrait, whereas this one is not bearded. Anyway, if some of the advanced Mecklenburg collectors have an idea what this is, that would be great. It is a very small medal with the arms of the principality on the reverse. I suppose a combination of awards like this would indicate some sort of court lackey.
    14. You just beat me on that photo, one that I was after and just missed.
    15. Timo, I also saw this one and was immediately suspicious of it, mainly because of the lack of consistent wear, as you point out.
