      nicely adapted cross. the american dealer 'der rittmeister' had an umarked version with the same added locking system for sale about 10 years ago. i naively inquired about it on another forum, and it was promptly sold before i had a chance to obtain it. oh well...that's the way it goes sometimes!

      back to the cross in question: two of these (images #15,16) have been sold on both ebay.de and american ebay in the last month...the odds of it being authentic (regardless of when they were purportedly made) are very slim indeed.

      here's a one-piece ek1 done entirely (pin,hinge, clasp as well) in brass or bronze

      and then there are cases. this drawer has approximately 30 different styles of cases. all have the crosses in them

      got some more ryker boards for christmas... so far, i have put about 100 different makers/attachment systems/ cores of 1914 ek1 crosses in them....

      i dunno, the system on the cross shown on my avatar is pretty rare as well! i have only seen two examples in all of my collecting years

      do a search for K.M.S.T. ek1's.... i have posted several examples, and i know that other members have also posted a fair amount of this type. this type of attachment system is also found on wound badges, but they are considered extremely rare!

      speaking of fake EKs on eBay: a short while ago, one of our members sold two 1813 EK copies (1st and 2nd class) which were posted in the replica sales forum here on GMIC. imagine my surprise last night when i spotted them freshly listed on ebay as "jeweler's copies", and priced out at a HUGE' buy it now' 300% price markup.

      claudius, a few years ago, one of our fellow members contacted me about one of his projects, and asked me to participate. he published 2 volumes dealing exclusively with the subject of the 1914 ek1. a total of approximately 1150 pages of pictures, descriptions, and info on the myriad of makers. however, the text is in russian. an excellent compilation!

      ah, yes! thanks for adding your picture. i'm hesitant to remove the tape..it consists of that old cloth medical tape, and looks to have been applied decades and decades ago. someday i will attempt to peel it off and see what's going on underneath.
