    1. Gentlemen, Regarding the Romanian Order of the Star Grand Crosses that were awarded during WW2- what is the significance of the crown on top of the breast star? Here are some examples with and without the crown. Maybe it relates to Swords being on the star? Many thanks for any help offered. Pierce
    2. Peter- thank you once more for your input. Rogi- I never thought of that, thank you for the advice. Apart from discharge papers (which thankfully are quite detailed), would there be any other documentation in the British Archives that could relate to this man or give new information? For example, I do not have a date of birth or date of death. Best regards Pierce
    3. Peter, You are a wealth of information- thank you. Do you have photos of the sort of blue uniform this man may have worn? Many thanks Pierce
    4. Peter, Thank you for these most helpful replies. My ancestor served between 1850 and 1874 as a Gunner, so I am assuming he got the majority of his Good Conduct Badges by years of service under the 1860 regulations. Best regards Pierce
    5. Gentlemen, I know what the Silver Medal for Long Service & Good Conduct looks like but I am not sure what the 5 Good Conduct Badges are- perhaps some sort of sleeve insignia? I would be grateful if a member could post an example of the Good Conduct Badge from this period 1850-1874. With thanks Pierce
    6. Dear Peter, Many thanks for your detailed reply. It is as I had thought but I am glad to have confirmation. Best wishes Pierce
    7. Dear Gentlemen, I recently went searching for a distant relative (Great-great-great uncle!!) who was in the British Army in the mid 1800s. I made contact with a researcher who sent me copies of my relative's service records. There are some amazing records out there, I must say! The records state that he was a recipient of the 5 Good Conduct Badges as well as a "Silver Medal for Long Service & Good Conduct". My query is this- is it possible to acquire a copy of my relative's Long Service Medal from the Government? I believe this is possible with American service personnel so it got me thinking. It's just something I wanted advice on before I go and buy a reproduction myself. I would like to make a display. Many thanks, Pierce
    8. Paul, A nice honest medal bar. I really like it. I have a similar combination in ribbon bar form. Kind regards Pierce
    9. I see one Weimar era ribbon on this bar- perhaps the red ribbon with white stripes is for the German Red Cross 1922-1934 version. For me this would make the most sense given the other red cross ribbon present.
    10. Thank you for your replies. Just to clarify- this was not actually for a Freikorps decoration but a sort of recognition for past service?
    11. The images are really bad but I would appreciate the collectors here having a look. Does anyone recognise this Freikorps Certificate? Thank you Pierce ' alt='' class='ipsImage' > ' alt='' class='ipsImage' > ' alt='' class='ipsImage' > ' alt='' class='ipsImage' >
    12. Thank you for your reply. Would this grading system have remained the same during the post-war Doorn years? Kind regards Pierce
    13. Gentlemen, I would appreciate some help regarding the grade of this Princely Hohenzollern House Order. Is it Commander Grade by any chance (worn on/below the left breast pocket)? My thanks Pierce ' alt='' class='ipsImage' > ' alt='' class='ipsImage' >
    14. Great looking medal bar. I really like the 1934 German Red Cross.
    15. Many thanks for the link. I have seen that topic, and read many others. There is no truly complete list out there in my opinion but it is something I am personally working on continuously. The ribbon is as I originally posted. The red stripe you see belongs to the next ribbon (white with thin red edges). It's not a great photo I posted, at an angle like that. The Yugoslavian Order of the White eagle uses a red and blue and/or white ribbon- the ribbon in question is certainly more burgundy/maroon. Here is a straight on shot of the ribbon. The resolution is poor but you should be able to make out the colour and make-up as described. The mystery ribbon does not fit anything I have come across for Goring. It is hard, I think, to even begin to pinpoint a country, as he collected so many decorations from all over the world. That's why I had hoped someone would recognise this ribbon. My own first thought was the San Marino Order of St. Agatha. It's close- but then it has a yellow stripe at the edge, and this ribbon does not, but maybe this ribbon could be something out of the ordinary like that. ' alt='' class='ipsImage' >
